Love / Rejected - Rafal thought I was ugly? [85]

I am still mystified why you would take such a matter to a forum? I mean...you should talk with friends about this. Why some forum guys/girls are qualified to give you advice?

Love / Rejected - Rafal thought I was ugly? [85]

There is something oldfashioned called friends. You know the people you go out with for a coffee / beer / tea / wine, and ask this all in person.

News / News from the Poland's media front - Drop in sales for Uważam Rze. [15]

We would encourage however, as far as is possible, to link to sites that are in English, although obviously this is not always possible.

OK that's fair enough. Thanks for the explanation

Uwazam Rze is regarded as having been taken over and no longer representing the right.

Ah well there is always that rag Nasz Dziennik - although that is rather Comical Ali.

My Polish is up to standards, thank you very much (at least it was when I wrote the last memo during this working year - in Polish -, and presided the last departmental meeting of this working year, also in Polish.

Give me Newsweek everyday.

News / Poland's atheist loonies have had their 5 minutes [239]

Pope Francis is doing everything he can to aggrandize himself with both the media and the dumb masses.

Let's see...
- He intends to clean up the pigsty called the Vatican Bank
- He wants the clergy to lead a life of modesty and shun luxury cars
- Even the cardinals in the Vatican now have to register in and out when going to "work"
- He attacks paedophile priests really hard
- He wants to reconciliate the Church with the people
- He thinks gays and divorced people are....people
- When he was still an archbishop he went to work by public transport
- He is living very modestly as a Pope

And please define "dumb masses". Everybody else besides yourself?

Btw Pius XII was a virulentanti-Semitic, who did not mind working together with Hitler, and wrecked his Centre Party in Germany.
He did not lift a finger when the Nazis deported the Jews of Rome, right beneath his window.

Pope Francis is doing everything he can to aggrandize himself with both the media and the dumb masses. There isn't an ounce of sincerity in his bones, he has been acting like a media star since his appointment.

Of course you would not like him. I would say he is the opposite of being a media star. Longing for Pius XII, do you?

News / News from the Poland's media front - Drop in sales for Uważam Rze. [15]

Sure, no problem. But can other posters linking to Polish sites expect the same request? Or is it linked to my political persuasion?
It is about the drop in circulation of "Uważam Rze" - see English Wiki link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uwa%C5%BCam_Rze.

Basically a PIS mouthpiece, specialized in Smolenkist fantasies. The drop in circulation is remarkable.

News / News from the Poland's media front - Drop in sales for Uważam Rze. [15]

With the Union of Press Distribution Control developed by Wirtualnemedia.pl portal , the average sale " I Sculpture " in September decreased annually by as much as 89.86 percent . Ultimately amounted to only 13 thousand . copies. From the end of November " I Sculpture " has become a monthly .

Large declines also recorded "Gazeta Poland " (almost 27 per cent . ) And " On " ( almost 24 per cent . ) .

Sales leader was while in the " Sunday Visitor " . In October, sold over 137.5 thousand . copies. The second place went to "Politics " and the third " Newsweek Poland".

It seems that readers in Poland have decided that "Uważam Rze" and "Gazeta Polska" are not worth the paper on which their lies are printed.

Law / European Health Insurance Card - help with Poland's ZUS? [12]

Personally I'd be more concerned about the Polish tax office deciding that as a I live in Poland, the 'centre of my vital interests' is Poland

Anyway, EU regulations state that you pay taxes and social contributions where you reside.

Law / European Health Insurance Card - help with Poland's ZUS? [12]

Yes,you are talking here about the "Dobrowolne Ubezpieczenie Zdrowotne". You have to undersign a contract with NFZ, and then every month you pay your own health contributions. Monthly rates (payable to ZUS) are fixed per quarter, this quarter it is 343,19 PLN.

But of course you need to have a Karta Pobytu for that.

Why do you also sound like Torquemada on a bad day?
Btw...I have asked this a few times...What is your opinion of Pope Franciscus? As compared to pope benedict and pope JPII ?
Somehow I have the idea he is not of your ilk....

News / Why is Amazon not present in Poland? [57]

There is a difference between DD and CC cards. Direct Debit cards do not have a CCV number. You need a credit card for that one. I am using my Polish CC without problems. I cannot complain about Amazon.co.uk.

(Though their employees might think differently)

Law / European Health Insurance Card - help with Poland's ZUS? [12]

Will I get a European insurance card in Poland just because I am registered ?

Nope, you get a European insurance card if you pay your health contributions. They are linked. And this you can do only in the country where you are registred.

Study / Are there any German or British universities in Poland? [21]

I hope every thing is clear now Mr. sherlock holmes ^_^

Nope. Our labrador speaks better English as you - far better as it goes - At which "university" will you "study"?

Clark "University"...Care to ask any competent employer how they value your "degree" ?

USA, Canada / Are prices for Laptops, Cell Phones or Tablets in Poland cheaper than in the US? [18]

A friend of mine living here in Warsaw is a Canadian. He bought his IPhone 4 in Canada for about half the price you would pay in PL. Of course here you have the bundles = telephone+subscription...But if you analyse the conditions, you are much better off buying a phone separately.

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

Most women are bossy. Polish women are expected to take a big share of responsibility for their marriage, children, household and husband.

This looks department depends on individual perception. I generally do not take male opinion about male looks with the exception of gays.
Few years ago a distant relative of mine went to Britain, she hasn't been well traveled, neighboring countries like Germany and such but nothing further afield. I happened to have a conversation with her on Skype. She said "My God, people here are so very ugly". A Question of perception - that all. Some types of looks are more general in their appeal and some not. Everyone have the right to his[/quote]
I did not want to tell this, but for once I tend to agree with you more or less.

Think about it, there are tons and tons of Polish professional models, not so many men

The same in my home country. But single +30 females are not shunned there for parties...and nobody expects you to show up with a partner at a "serious" social occasion.

OK, my embassy sends invitations for the annual party to Mr/Mrs. and Partner. But I guess that is diplomacy :)

Study / Are there any German or British universities in Poland? [21]

He did. I wonder when the request for a working visa will come.

They're all Polish, but some payed some cash to grand foreign diplomas for graduates. For example:

These are companies issuing "degrees".

Life / Cigarette prices in Poland [27]

Sadly a benefit that's being lost as it becomes more and more impossible to smoke anywhere.

Very good. I have zero sympathy for smokers. I cannot wait for the big freeze to come, and seeing them standing on the pavement outside of the office :)

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

The thing about having a partner is half true though, a single Polish woman (especially over the age of 30) is shunned. It's hard (and boring) to explain, but basically it's because every social event that people are asked to here requires you to bring a guest, (weddings, christenings, etc. etc.) so it's handier to have a bf/gf (even if you hate them!)

Something is in this, and after all these years in Poland I haven't figured out why exactly. Single women tend to be invited much less often for social occasions here. My wife thinks this is because in other couples might look at her as "threat". Stupid thinking if you ask me.

News / Why are Czechs more effective than Poles and Poland? [116]

ask Slovaks - they would probably tell you, that Czechs were like parasites on slovakian people and after the "divorce" cleaned them totally ;)

Yes, Tiso was a good example :)

Travel / English cigarettes - where to buy in Poland? [41]

And are their prices much lower as in a kiosk?
Because my sister is coming over with her husband, and they always buy cigarettes in large quantities.

I noticed this guy is posting the same text in very thread concerning cigarettes...Could it be something fishy? For a starter, the name of the company would be welcome.
