Polonia / Poles in Kazakhstan ignored by the "Polish" state. [18]

So called Polish State ruled by Polish Soviets takes in about eight to 20 families a year mostly those who are lucky

Those Polish Soviets from 2013 when you wrote it were in PO/PSL government.

Did the things change when PiS came to power in 2015?

Don`t answer, I will do it for you: No.

Are PiS guys Soviets according to your logic? It seems they are. :):)

Polonia / Life in Poland vs Norway - good for children, benefits, etc? [43]

My workmate from school emigrated to Norway a few years ago. She was a teacher of Polish, married, with a small kid. They had another one in Norway. Her husband works in the oil industry, on a rig. I met her in the shopping center a few weeks ago, she came to visit her family in Poland. I could guess she wasn`t really happy about that Norway, she felt a bit alienated there.

Polonia / Do Polish immigrants support Polish products? [8]

Buying things that have been transported a long way is an effective way to destroy this planet and environment even more.

Yes,. very true, but doesn`t it apply to such madness as transporting strawberries from Australia to Europe? InterEuropean transport like Poland - UK is definitely less destructive in comparison.

Yes, exactly, the prison in Monteluppi Street. Do you see that watch tower? How about blinded windows?

What was this part of the known building used for in the past centuries, especially the Middle Ages and later on?

Groteska Theatre.

Oops, look again at the photo.

Although I might agree with you, I suppose some people who frequent this place can say it is grotesque. :) But not a theatre!

Love / Polish men's expectations of dating? [6]

To see to sb/sth means to watch over, supervise. Is it what you want to discuss? This would introduce a new problem, quite contradictory to the earlier ones . You know, it is a bit puzzling: are you worried about seeing to sb every day or sending a message every couple of days?

Love / Polish men's expectations of dating? [6]

Sorry they want things to move much too fast, imo.

That is good coz it means they are typical males, prospective good husbands and fathers. Besides, you should feel proud of making them move so fast, it is surely to your credit.

Or only sending me a message online every couple of days.

Forgive them coz most of them are very busy. Polish immigrants work hard in the UK to have enough money to satisfy demanding local females.

History / Your favourite Polish Patriotic films [49]

Fucha - Side job. from 1983, made by the last year student of director school. It is only 60 minutes long.

I must say it has been my fav patriotic film for a year or two. I watch it once or twice a month, coz I love the acting and the plot, too.

Two alcoholic tomb masons from Warsaw are sent to the countryside to build a tomb. They get involved into doing a side job in mysterious circumstances. .

Once it was available on youtube. Now only a fragment:
at 4.15 there is an inscription on the tomb, not translated in subtitles: Nothing for myself, Everything for Motherland.

Fully available on this site but only Polish.

I almost forgot - the music score is also very appealing.

Travel / What is Olsztyn known for and what things can you do there? [8]

These are the reasons which would certainly attract me to move there if I ever decided to leave Lesser Poland voivodship, endowed with rich culture and magnificent history. :) I suppose there are more people like me.

Life / Dentist prices in Poland [6]

between 150 and 200 in total if the tooth needs to be drilled and re-filled.

Yes, it is the correct price. Just like American dentists (as one US teacher told me decades ago), Polish ones are little money making machines, .

ok - my mom just told me that filling a tooth can be as low as 100 PLN -

Filling a tooth may differ in price depending on what material is used for the filling. Economy class can still ask for amalgam filling and their wish will be fulfilled.

News / Commemoration of 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the WWII in Warsaw. Poland a full-fledged NATO member. [30]

Such commemoration happens every year.

Yes, each year the head teacher mentions the WW2 during the opening ceremony. The only difference is this year there was a minute of silence to commemorate the victims.

I have been waiting for someone to start a threat about it. In vain.

That`s interesting. Why are you so reluctant to start threads? Don`t be afraid to show some initiative.... :)

Off-Topic / Spelling, grammar and punctuation task in English [12]

2. And he has spat my name at me ever since..

I guess that whenever Weinstein saw her, he uttered/murmured her name in a very angry disdainful way to show his disapproval of her earlier rejection of his immoral advances at her.

I had just reached the up with which I could not put......

Isn`t it a funny play with the word order? I have reached the limits of my endurance, couldn`t bear it any longer... etc.

Travel / What is Olsztyn known for and what things can you do there? [8]

what reputation does it have for people from all over Poland and what do you associate that city with?

The reputation is neutral or positive. I know they have a nice Old Town. In 1980s I spent there a few days, attending an international folk festival.

I can see it is still held today.

Po polsku / Zniszczenie (zniesienie) wiz dla Polaków do Ameryki [7]

Co to oznaczy w tym kontekscie? Znowu zartujesz, pawku:-)

To oznacza że mam w nosie te wizy.
To oznacza że te wizy mam w nosie.
To oznacza że w nosie mam te wizy.

Zauważyłeś jak można zmieniać szyk w polskich zdaniach? Angielski tak nie potrafi. :)

Jedynie szyk Jody:

To oznacza że te wizy w nosie mam.

brzmi dziwnie.

Ale to też się zmienia:
Bo to zła kobieta była.
