UK, Ireland / POLISH CITIZENS FOUND DEAD IN UK... [36]

I must confess my first thoughts were that she had maybe died of a drugs overdose , and he after some time in denial went and hung himself...

it could be, but I cant imagine why he wouldnt call for help for her if this did happen
I know things happen, but it says they are linked to another polish community, do they
live in a polish community now? or are they in a mixed area?

its still to fishy, cause there is no note.. you would think if things were that bad and she
died from overdose, and he was feeling responsible , that he might have at least left
a note for his family.. explaining why .. but I think her tox report will show nothing.

I think he was involved in stuff and she was unfortunately in the way, I think others are
involved.

USA, Canada / Things that Polish-American should know about Poland. [168]

I don't need to identify with dead ancestors that I've never met in order to make myself complete as a person.

Well if thats the only impression you get from it, then you keep that with you..

I for one still have my daughter alive, thanks to medicine and its historical findings
and genetics, without the continuing research of the past, present and future, she
will be able to live a normal life, as alot of children who are struck with diseases that
disable them because of their genetic past.. and if someone didnt collect this knowledge
alot more children would be born and die without anyone having a clue as to how to
treat it or how to dx the problems within a family.

cancer, spina bifida, muscular dys, etc,, the list goes on of the many many genetic
diseases that can happen.

people living through the past, taking credit for things they had nothing at all to do with. The idea that someone should be even remotely judged based on the actions that their ancestors took part in is crazy, but you get a lot of it. That pride in the achievements of others crosses over and becomes personal pride. Strange thing.

I havent seen this at all, but even if they did, why would that bother you so much?
whats the big deal if your main objective is just to meet people and go by that or are
you more judgemental of those who do feel good about their ancestors accomplishments?

I mean, people are noticed for the things they do, and maybe personally they dont really
want to be remembered by these things, but hey, george washington was our first pres
and he was remembered for that, abe lincoln, but this is all historical too so its there
whether you or anyone else likes it, and if someone can claim they are decendents of these
very influential men, well no sweat off my back. Im not going to cut them down because
they have famous ancestors. to me thats petty, and jealousy, and again, I know alot of
researchers, they dont do this for sense of belonging, they already have familys and have
established alot.. its more of a curiosity and interest and hobbys.

for me it was finding reasons why for my daughters sake , because there was no information
avail for the specialists and doctors when they were asking me a gazillion questions that I
had no answers to.

it just went from there to finding more.

USA, Canada / Things that Polish-American should know about Poland. [168]

I get my sense of belonging from the people that I meet through life and have relationships with

yeah, your grandparents and great grandparents are not people long past, they were in
your life, least some are lucky enough to have shared some time on this earth with
their grandparents and great g-parents.

I lost three of mine before i was born, and briefly met one.. my only visions are /were
thru my mother when I would ask her about grandma.. and grandpa.

but it painted a picture for me, it made me imagine myself in poland, walking with her
when she was a little girl.. the stories are true accounts of someones life that I met.

my mom and dad are also deceased, but I go to their graves and pray, talk and wish
that they were still here, they could see their grandchildren, one in which my dad never
was able to meet..and genealogy is not just about tracking your ethnic background,
there is also health/genetics..

certain ethnic cultures have high percentages of rare disease..
example would be africans with sickle cell anemia.

so... I think its important not only for historical reasons but for background on health.

I think every family should be sharing this information, because if I had the information
when my second daughter was born, I would have been educated enough to know how
to read signs and get my daughter to the hospital much more quicker and the doctors
would have screened for futher rare disorders and she wouldnt have had to go thru
what she went thru and almost died...............

because her sugar was only 8... so believing that she was a perfect healthy baby
and there was nothing wrong we almost lost her because we had no knowledge of this
ever happening.

now had I researched sooner, my flags would have been raised when I discovered that
my grandmother who died before I was born had five girls that died with similar
diagnosis /symptoms as my daughter.

so for you, it might not be a important issue.. but dont knock for those of us who do
need to know,, without the knowledge of history and such, really , none of our arses would
be here if someone from our great past didnt keep his arse in check and make it thus far.

USA, Canada / Think you're Polish (and live in the USA)? [161]

Patricja, you've bought into an idea that you have to be committed to fight

Im making an example, I know that fighting for something you have to believe in that
reason in order to make that committment, but what harry is saying and what he is doing
is completely off what he is even arguing about.

hes making all these huge complaints about polish americans, but yet he wont commit
to this polish patriotism hes all of the sudden been born with.. lol lmao.

he says oh, you shouldnt leave poland in their time of need, but hey by the way,, my name
is harry and I dont even want to be a citizen of the very country I am so adamantly defending cause I have a pointless cause.. lol

Alot of Americans , Polish, black, hispanic, jew, etc etc didnt go to war during veitnam
so its not like people just say hey, our govt is right so we have to ,, no, theres alot
of resistence within this country as well.. but the difference is, they didnt hide who they
were or what country they came from and didnt deny citizenship, they still aknowledge
what country they originated, no matter how far back. and no one makes a big stink
about it,, thats the beauty of being American, cause no one here will deny you that.

Harry is Jealous, he talks about it enough to come to that conclusion.

USA, Canada / Think you're Polish (and live in the USA)? [161]

, because I'd never be stupid enough to blindly commit myself to a policy of 'my country, right or wrong'

so basically your saying, if poland went to war tomorrow for whatever reasons, you
are not committed to them in any shape or form of documentation and wouldnt defend
the country because you are free of citizenship, but you want to be able to continue to
stay and live like a squatter with no responsibilities.

yet you call out people who actually do the right thing by getting citizenships and
defend the country they live in?

It's a source of constant amazement to me how people take such pride in something which they had absolutely no control over (i.e. where they were born and to whom)!

well at least something amazes you

I've lived less than ten percent of my life in countries which I am citizens of,

so you are not committed to poland, cause you have citizenships for other countries
and your a traitor for leaving and settling in poland which your not a citizen of to begin
with.

for a scot, oops a dull scot who has no citizenship or is committed you sure dont know
what country your arse is in cause you have none.

Love / I was raised in Poland. My Family hates my wife because she's American ... [69]

Just wondering if anyone ever want through something like that ... I know polish culture is strict but I think this is ridiculous ... I love my wife and my kids but I miss my family ...

you make your own decisions, there is nothing that says you have to be in arranged marriage right? so you chose your wife , if you mom has such a problem she will die with it

because you dont have the problem.

tell you mother, its her choice, you love her, but you also love your wife and your life as it
is, she has her life to run, your life is seperate, if she wants you in it for good then she needs
to be understanding and her job as a parent is done, its time for her to be a grandmother
and stop acting childish cause its her causing the issues not you.

mother or not, she has no right to be telling you how to run yours. parents are controlling
over their children when they are young , not when they are grown and taking care of them
selfs. you moved in with her, she prob tried to use the your under my roof now . what she
fails to see is that she cant treat other adults like children and she has no right to demand
paternity when its you who is the father,, she didnt carry this child, she is only the grandmother, not the parent, she has no rights other then to see the child and act like a

grandmother, not a crazy mother in law.. I would have stepped in her space and challenged
her,, you should not take your crap from her, mother or not she has not learned to respect
you as her adult son.

it would be different if you married someone who was cheating and taking money, but
she is moving to poland with you, uprooting her other three children to be with you,
and putting up with a crazy mother in law who kicks her out the 3 day she is in poland with
children??? who does that???

I am pretty sure you need to get control of this, your mother needs to be told by you
not your wife, that you are going to stay away until she is done having issues, you love
her but you have a family and if she cant respect that , there is no room in your family for
nonsense.. does she want to be a grandma or a lonely old woman??

ok, done, thats my ten cents :) LOL

been a long work week last week.. :)

Food / Stuffed cabbage - gołąbki - recipe [59]

Many PolAms use minced beef or even suety hamburger in their gołąbki. To the Polish palate, pork or pork & veal are far superior. If you use the so-called meatloaf mixture available in many supermarkets (pork-veal-beef), that can be quite nice too. Whaddya think?

I went to a graduation this summer with the original way of making these, and I found it
to be way to loose and dry, maybe he used to much minced hamburger, to tell you the truth
I usually can tell whats in them.. but they just didnt look right, they were ok, but I would
have preferred a more saucy tomato taste vs the minced, I guess I was just used to what
mom made growing up.

Love / 'Battered husbands' - still a taboo subject in Poland [387]

I know a few girls here have some feminist views, and I think that's a good thing. It's not like they're rabid man-haters. They just want to be able to have it their way, without having to listen to a guy all the time

good way to look at it. same can be applied to men , and them not wanting to listen to a
woman all the time.

but we have to stop and listen at some point or we will find ourselfs lonely, not everything
in life is perfect.

I think our media is the biggest b¡tch of all. I mean, all these perfect images of perfect people and their perfect lives really screw with the minds of young people, both guys and girls, and such unrealistic expectations will only lead to disappointment. I think that's the real problem we're facing today. So many demands to live up to, not enough time!

so true, you see perfection, you expect it, so many good hearted people get passed by
cause they look for eye candy.. you have to click and you know it.

and if you click with that person, then dont let them get away.. :)

Love / 'Battered husbands' - still a taboo subject in Poland [387]

Did you want one of my face or my pen!s,

well they both prob look the same, shaved , small and round with a hole in the middle of it..

your ex told me that. :)

seeing how many women you manage to p¡ss off here. (And most of them aren't even Feminists!)

he knows what hes doing, we all told him we werent, but he keeps on doing his pc warrior
thing...

and yes Zimmy, you generalize, theres nothing to comprehend there, its out there, in alot
of posts.. thats what bothers me, you include all women, which is really feked up
so I guess you daughter is a fem too, cause you dont say some, or certain groups of
women, it would make more sense to say that, but you dont, and we keep telling you
but your pig head women bashing keeps on happening, so I do hope someone shuts you
up, I suspect you act like this all the time, its only a matter of time before someone
actually does kick your arse for you fowl mouth.. theres no debate there.

I know what I said, so do few others, we are simply tired of the bullshyt
please re-read some of zimmys threads then come back and tell me he isnt bashing
women, he generalizes all the time , I highly doubt he is doing much for society.

thank you :)

I realize that there are men who get abused, I am all for them getting help
and getting out of the situation.

I think if its something your wanting to do , it isnt impossible to help others in
these situations. that is why I dont know why zimmy isnt applying all this to
making a actual website or starting a group.. he seems to want to help
for a better cause, sitting on here and fighting with everyone sure isnt getting
the message out there for those who really need him.

this is a polish website.

Love / 'Battered husbands' - still a taboo subject in Poland [387]

is that all you can do is attack by saying I have low comprehension and you hurt my feelings, these are old news zimmy, you keep using the same old lines.. over and over.

let me clue you in on something, its you that doesnt comprehend what I am saying.
you keep asking me to provide links , but there is no links to provide other then show
you what you wrote and what you keep writing over and over.

everything you say is hypocritical, you say you dont dislike women, but you include
all western women in every critical subject you talk about, you dont say some women
you basically say all women, this is my point I was trying to get across. but you failed
again to even catch it, and it was not hidden, but yet again zimmy goes on his rant
and does his little retorts that make you look even more like a moron then you already
are.

you dont even know the points I have made or have been making all along, you keep
thinking you do, but I would be totally amazed to see if you even listened.

your just a fake emotionless old man.

there is nothing your links interest me with.. if you are such a go getter, then go
start a group.. but nope, your not, so again,, pgtx said what?? PC Warrior.

oh, yeah, liver, all the extra parts minus the neck was thrown in ( no bones)

now for my moms her stuffing was made differently, but that other stuffing was
part of the potato stuffing, and I am pretty sure everything went in the grinder.

it was good, but not my favorite, I like the apples still . lol
can even add cherries, whatever fruit,, yeh, good stuff. mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Love / 'Battered husbands' - still a taboo subject in Poland [387]

Tell you what - I won't tell you to see a shrink or whatever and you can keep your suggestions to me where the 'sun don't shine'. I realize that many women have a problem sticking their big noses where they don't belong. Don't be one of them.

so do men, but because its a thread on a public forum, I can say whatever the hell I please

so why dont you go sit and spin.

You have a comprehension problem. See? Two can play your silly 'sh!t test' game and it really is stupid; just wanted to show you how dumb it is.

I was showing you, all the so called debates are nothing more then retorts back and forth
and of course its always your threads zimmy, cause you just cant compose yourself.

everyone is a feminists.. yep, we all are out to get you. what a crock.. come back down
a few notches.. and FYI I do encourage men to also do what is needed to stop abuse
if they need to put someone in jail over it, so be it.. the cops take both to jail if its a
domestic fight now a days, it isnt something hidden, as for poland what they do there
isnt going to change overnight by your one thread.. PGTX is right in saying your
nothing more then a internet warrior..

oh BTW.. glad I struck a cord.. now I actually think your listening.

Quite a stupid reply to a serious debate really.

Talli, you hopped in half way thru a thread.. and you reply to my one little opinion
of zimmy that pretty much everyone agrees with minus a few retards.

he comes in here talking about this, but it stays here, so what good will this
thread do to help ? has he started a group for men that is specific for this ?
NO< had he offered to start one? NO
meanwhile he bashes ALL women, talks about them like they are objects and says
that he doesnt.. meanwhile, the REAL men in here who know how to take care of business
tell him how it is and he doesnt like it, and he still trys to convince them that all these
links will save them from only god knows what?? its not like we carry around machetis
or guns and are on a spree of some kind..

I am not a promoter of hate, I do not like this bashing shyt, if you want to listen to a
moron, go ahead, its not going to save you, trust me, it will make shyt worse, cause
if you treat a woman in public like what his links tell you to do, you wont have women
kicking your arse, you will have a shitload of men doing it..

so whatever, stupid comments or not, he needs to see a doctor soon, he hates
female, why, what happened in his divorce, maybe as a child, who the fek knows
but its ongoing annoying threads about nothing and he does nothing about it.

PGTX got it right, internet warrior. and nothing more.

so do men

I am going to refrase this, cause anger forced me to generalize and thats not what I wanted
to say and so for that I am saying SOME men.

Please share it, are you a lawyer fighting for battered husband rights?

he does nothing but sit on a chair and type.

if he had a group or something, he would provide a link to his website, but he has nothing!

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

Everything to me looks so nice when Christmas is around ... I just dont feel like working anymore ... just as december closes in =( ...

maybe its cause you know its a time of year when things will come to a end, you have
it in your head, january is a month of renewal, a new year, new feeling comes with that.

december is the last month of the twelve,, its a busy month, because you prepare for
the new year, and so theres many things to finish and the thoughts overwhelm
so that could be why you just want to relax and enjoy the lights and music and company
of family and friends.

So nicely said ... whoever you said this to must try it ... so shall I.

very good, I hope it helps. it does help me , for some reason those little white lights
perk me up.

BTW anyone heard of a clam stuffing for turkey?

I have heard of gizzard stuffing and potato stuffing, you use a grinder like for chopping
up meat like hamburger and you put the gizzards in and the potatos and flour and
onion and seasonings like sage and stuff.. dont know where this recipe originates
but I prefer the polish way with apples.. yep, moms was much tastier.

and a few girls might actually find his 'out of touch' approach interesting.

nope, its complicated, theres other issues he has to get past,, but my friend who
was engaged to him ,still thinks he sexy.. so you know what I say to that, thats my
brother EWWWWWWWWW>> LOL

I don't think there's a 'how to' talk to women

yes, there is, I wont elaborate on what he said, cause it was not nice. and he almost
had himself a date.. but.. all I can say is I yelled at him for his behavior and he knew
he was wrong. he is a good guy, just think he is not going to find the right one, cause
I dont really think he is going to change.

I get SAD in the winter season

you know, that is normal for some, get some white christmas lights and hang
them in the windows where you sit mostly, or just around your living room to give
you some soft light.. turn them on when your home watching tv or just relaxing
they really help to keep you feeling not so gloomy, cause they are light and light
inspires. :)

dont use the color ones, just the white cause they give better light.

with sage dressing,

nope, mom always made it with apples. and walnuts and sausage, grandma did too
but we do have the turkey, sweet potatoes, baked beans <~love emm and those are
made with bacon and onion, and mashed potatoes, but I whip mine and I like to add
little garlic and butter and parsley and pepper/salt

a nice large salad, sometimes we have creamy cucumbers too, and definately cranberry
sauce. and gravy for taters and rolls and green bean caserole and cherry pie and apple
pie and oh yeah, we are having ham too cause my youngest doesnt really like turkey
so we kinda split up the leftovers between all of us so we can all eat it for few days.. lol

and I will prob make a nice sheet cake and or maybe making pistachio delight

that is made with cool whip and pistachio pudding and marshmallows and pineapple
and optional marchino cherries, you can make it low fat by buying the low fat cool
whip and eat the crap out of it cause its not really to bad.. lol

oh and my older daughter likes corn at almost every meal so i will prob have to make
corn ( again). lol

omg, I will be so tired after cooking all day I wont be able to make it to the table.. lol

I love when the house smells so good from all this food though. its nice to be around
family and sharing a nice dinner.

I went to the GFS and they had walnuts already mashed so I can add them to my
stuffing with out having to do all that extra work.. someone loves me.. lol
