A Polish Town in Turkey. Who Knew?

My great.... great[?] grand father had a shop in Adampol. Before II World War my grandfather received a letter from polish ambasador of Turkey, that he inherited this shop, but he passed it to the Adampol people... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polonezk%C3%B6y

A nice little town. Didn't hear much Polish there though.

Quite a few Poles sought refuge in Turkey after the failed Polish insurrections of the C19, with probably the most notable example being General Bem, who converted to Islam and then served under the Sultan.

(Adampol) was founded by Prince Adam Jerzy Czartoryski in 1842. He was the Chairman of the Polish National Uprising Government and the leader of a political emigration party

The land belonged to the Czartoryski Family until 1990' when they renounced their ownership and have given land to their tenants.
