Sasha:

On the whole I don't know what's difference between us apart from colors of our passports.

I see many differences and many smiliarities but one thing is sure... Poles are not Russians.

Pan Prince, I agree with you, but I believe he ment by this the Ukrainians, not Poles.

Sasha Poles are the purest Slavic nation on the world (if we look for ancestry connection). Russians are east Slavic nation so there are similarities.

Ok-ok... :) Who argues? I'm just saying that there's no problem in that you Slav (Pole or Belorussian since other "slavic" nation can be hardly called "slavic") or not genetically; which is much more important is our language and cultural community.

Pshek ?

Offensive? Even Borrka said it wasn't...

but I believe he ment by this the Ukrainians

yeap :)

Was immediately called "rusek" and "kacap" after disclosing the fact that I'm Russian while trying to communicate to Poles in their language. Is there some kind of new-wave anti-Russian nationalists? In that game mostly younger people spend their time rather than "over twenty-five, employed and married" people. I heard something about young patriotic organisations.

It freaking hurts. Never called anybody in my life an ethnic slur unless they'd called me first.
So tell me Poles, why shall I carry a shame any government on this territory deserved in the past three centuries??? I was brought up to be friendly despite of the race or nationality. I do not joke about Ukrainians, Georgians, Poles, black people, whatnots.

I don't know. I wasn't the one who said it. And it's not like I can change the mind of a person who did.

I was brought up to be friendly despite of the race or nationality.

So was I.

It is not new. We had a very, very bad experience with Russia in our history. This should not be personal though and calling someone a kacap should be reserved for people who actually deserve it like our friend ContantineK here on PF.

You shouldn't. You know it doesn't make sense.

Was immediately called "rusek" and "kacap" after disclosing the fact that I'm Russian while trying to communicate to Poles in their language.

Well, lets put some definitions first:
1. "rusek" is term wich means something between: "dude from east of the border" to "dude selling socks and old soviet uniforms on flea market". So it is really not so offensive

2. "kacap" is slightly worse, but it could be offensive or humorous, anyway this word has some interesting etymology:
pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kacap

Is there some kind of new-wave anti-Russian nationalists?

No, those are at least centuries old informal names for people east of the border in Poland, sometimes negative sometimes not. Those are quite capacious words. You can't expect that such old words disappear after just twenty years of normal relationship. I bet they will not vanish, but if things will be ok between us, negative association will vanish. That is the way usually language evolution works.

I do not joke about Ukrainians, Georgians, Poles, black people, whatnots.

Well, that explains a lot, because if nothing more happened then you are overreacting...
You don't joke about others nationalities? It is hard to believe that, but if so be aware that you are missing big chunk of human knowledege. Jokes about other nationalities are just another version of La Fontaine fairy tales... Of course in every country versions locals are the brightest and neighbours are not ;-)

I'm sorry, what I meant to say is that I do not joke in a offensive manner. There are slightly offensive jokes, and there are very offensive and cruel jokes. I do not use the latter form. What I also wanted to say is that I don't resort to namecalling especially if the person I'm talking to is neutral. It was 3 or 4 AM in the morning at the time I posted so you can imagine some degree of inability to explain myself :)

Thanks everybody who answered =) I found a video that is somehow related to chauvinism. Hey it can be applied to Russians too :)

I really laughed hard when he said something about the Swiss stealing the Jewish gold, then about the Jews LOL
and at the end about our "Ułamy" lol

Laughed really about the fork being bent at first time he used it too and saying "Superpower yeah sure.."

It was funny really, I bet you could find bent down Polish forks too lol

this time, Russian role would be positive. Russians would be nice to Poland. They would just jump to visit Germany and Britain, to finish with sh**.

Retaliation on Scotland? It's part of GB. They haven't seen retaliation yet for flying over our airspace without permission. It's always the same with Russia on an intergovernmental level. As for Russian people, there are many in the SW of Scotland and most Scots really like them.

On England? That's ok then :) They have spy issues with Russia so let them deal with it. I'd deny Blair and Brown access to Scotland, they are not Scots IMHO.

Scots should capture, interrogate and then eradicate them

Democracy and freedom to Scotland! God bless Russian hand of justice! ;)

As of today, March 1st, Russia doesn't have militia anymore, but police.

there is this old Polish joke -

a farmer (peasant) is harvesting in his field when his son runs to him - the son exclaims: 'Father, the Russians flew to the moon!!!'

the farmer asks: 'All of them'? 'No' 'So why are you wasting my time?'

the farmer asks: 'All of them'? 'No' 'So why are you wasting my time?'

It actually goes "All of them?" "?No just one".Refering to J.Gagarin.

hmm AFAIK Gagarin never made it to the Moon - better ideas??
btw have Russians actually ever landed on the Moon

ha

so the joke should actually state 'Father, the Russians flew to the space' 'All of them?' No. Just one' 'So why should I bother?' - and then Gagarin fits in perfectly - but the harvesting machine doesn't that well ;)

czyli nie Książyc tylko kosmos - sorry my mistake

Another one was:
"Father, father Russkies released Sputnik!" and father says "So what?He did his time so they released him"
In polish
"Ojciec, ojciec Ruskie Sputnika wypuścili!" "No i co?Swoje odsiedział,to go wypuścili"

hmm AFAIK Gagarin never made it to the Moon - better ideas??

Right, but the joke was "Ruskie w kosmos polecieli" not "na księżyc".

sorry my mistake

no problem.
Here is a new one I was told lately by a Russian,it refers to corruption in Russian Police.
Sasha got a job as a police officer, they gave him a uniform and a gun and he went on patrol. They didn't see him since then, the payday came and he still didnt show up.Finally they call him and ask "Sasha why didn't you show up to pick up your salary?" and Sasha surprised "So you gave me a uniform and a gun and even PAY SALARY???"

what fascinate me,... i grow up with thoughts about `American mission`, positive American role, progressive America. Soviets and Warsaw pact were negative side.

Now, USA becoming disguising to me, Soviets are no more and Russia evolve in positive direction.

Merged: Poles vs Russians

What are the most important differences between these two slavic ethnicities? After meeting quite a few Russians in southern Russia I have started sympathizing with Poles. They are a lot milder.
