There plenty of people who feel nostalgic about Lwow and Kresy. Mostly people who were born there or their families but not only them.
Their aim - to promote knowledge about those Polish lands and to help renovate buildings, cemeteries and all other object of Polish couture left on those territories.

How old are they? 80? 90? Young people don't dream about that nonsense - at least not the normal ones.

Part of me wants to let this go, but another part wants justice for all those people that were massacred, it bothers me that some Ukrainians have the nerve to be waving UPA flags and worship Bandera. No respect.

Didn't the Putin administration recently offered Lwów back to Poland ?

Pomerania is a tricky one, you can say its the punishment Germany gets for invading Poland, destroying Warsawa (around 90%!) and countless other cities, stealing Polands national treasures, forced slave labor, more then 3 million polish killed, many also killed by concentration camps (not including Jews), you get the point I could go on forever.


Most people/peoples ancestors that came from the Ukraine part of Kresy where killed or relocated to Silesia. The problem is the crazy Neo-Nazis in Ukraine (oddly most prominent in former eastern Poland/Kresy), even the current government of Ukraine admits theirs a problem. Many people fear them and they will do anything to defend their Bandera idiology (They claim Volyn-Galicia is theirs). They simply will make that area too dangerous and stir trouble to prevent Poles from returning. And even though my ancestors lived here, I think its a bad move until their is no more Banderite fascist around.

If it was that easy to get it back, it would have already been done.

The destroying of Warsaw still hurts. Before WW2, Warsaw was often called "Paris of the east" in different poems in the 20's and 30's.

And after the war, Stalin only wanted grey blocks everywhere. Now Prague has the title..... Stupid Czechs.


I just fear that if the Poles should return, germans would get the same Idea about Pomerania.

No Germans, German heritage largely destroyed, bad infrastructure, millions of new Polish citizens... Germans are much to rational for costly adventures like this. The Russians offered them East Prussia in the early 1990, and they refused.

And for the same reasons most Poles wouldn't want former Eastern Poland back. Millions of poor Ukrainians who are looking for jobs, don't speak the language and aren't Catholic. All this because Lwów sounds better then Lwiw?

I doubt it very much they did. The northern part of East Prussia now being part of the Russian Federation is an important military "base" for the Russians.


It was Vladimir Zhirinovsky who made this offer, he is the deputy chairman of the Duma, so technically speaking he is not part of the Putin administration. This offer it was quickly dismissed as ridiculous by the Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman.

On another occasion, Mr. Zhirinowski called Poland a *******".

Why does Warsaw have a monument to Taras Shevchenko? He romanticized the massacre of Poles in his writings.

Yeah, its too strategic for Russia to give it up

What the bloke wrote about is not something I can comment on (as I've never read any of his stuff), but being a violent racist bigot who discriminated against one's fellow Poles is certainly not a barrier to having a monument in Warsaw, Dmowski has at least one, and a roundabout named after him too.
