well big in polish history, see i am doing a project on eurpean history and I chose poland as my topic. And I wanted to pick something which polish people believe to be important.
Has poland been part of any big wars.(excluding ww2)
Nah, never, ever, most Poland ever did outside of WW2 was a scuffle with Slovakian border guards two years ago. It was in the papers and was by no means a small thing - one of the Polish border guys had to go to the doctor, his eye was bruised.

Sheesh, read a book.
Polish history is pretty much one bloody war after another with a relatively peaceful period in the XVIth century.
Pointers --> Polish/Soviet war 1919-1921, Battle of Vienna 1683, Battle of Beresteczko 1651, Battle of Grunwald 1410.
I'm not going to answer a guy who doesn't even bother to register, even though I could point him/her to a few good books on Polish history. And they're probably in his local library, or, if he's really at Clemson, the uni has them.
Choosing wars of poland as a project is like doing a project on "global companies of the USA". Any student project on the topic would be so broad as to be meaningless. If you are really doing this for a university course you should do something like the 1938 Polish annexation of "Zaolzie" or the Polish involvement in the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, where the topic is sufficiently narrow to be meaningly covered in a project.
But perhaps you could clarify: are you an 8 year old kid or an 18 year old freshman?

Don`t forget the 1919 War for Cieszyn Silesia, when the Czechs attacked southern Poland. :):):) To most people`s surprise, they won! :):):):):)
The result of the war was the new demarcation line, which expanded the territory controlled by Czechoslovakia.

Haha, subtle differences in the description of military conflicts can really cause some controversy. Regardless of the history, its not disputed that the Zaolzie military action was used as propaganda to an ultimately very large detriment to Polish interests, which is why I suggested it to the OP.
The Cabbage War is ongoing. It's a civil war where grannies queue up, elbows at the ready, to claim their cabbage soup, stuffed cabbage rolls and stuffed pockets with cabbage. You'd never believe there was a national surplus!
To me the most interesting subject Polish participation of ww1, Poland was partition by 3 powers and Polish population serving in 3 armies fighting on all fronts. The politics of ww1 and forming of Polish legions under Józef Klemens Piłsudski that lead to independence 11/11/1918.
=scottie1113]The OP hasn't been back. Obvious troll to wind you guys up.
Nope. The OP was OK. It is Dr Rabbit who took an attempt at silly trolling.

Yeah, the grandads sometimes join in on the act too :) Ooh, a big war indeed. I thought I was safe as a 105kgs solid guy but boy, those grannies are well versed in the art of war. All Sun Tzu readers :)
pawian, you are definitely not European enough - and then you wonder why Polish people are seen as nationalistic in Europe - see the beam in your eye first pawian :P
The truth is that most people are morons who are too lazy to do proper research. They don`t read books nor opinion magazines, they only depend on tabloids or rumour.

Sokrates
One can't shake the feeling that your suggestions were a not so subtle go at Poland in a very negative way.
Well you both have pretty thin skin then: Polish relations with Czechoslovakia in the 20th century are a topic that is focussed enough to write a historical account of for the purposes described by the OP. The two historical topics that I mentioned are very interesting from the perspective of military and political history - I had no intention of describing them in "biased" terms. It's true they reflected badly on Poland: I'm not afraid of discussing that.
Don`t be silly. Polish relations with Chechs in 20 century are not a big war as was required by the OP! Compared to other Polish real wars, it was just a local conflict which engaged 5000 men.
lols, and just happened over night to change over 250,ooo people from Czech citizens to proud Poles................yeah,teeny tiny ickle thing that :)
Pole to Brit " Munich Munich sell out czechoslovakia Munich Chamberlin British let hitler invade blah de blah blah" reply, "yeah, what ever..."

Oh, you have proof,er,um,argh............we had good reasons blah de blah, you must be commie jew nazi polonophobe it was Poland,we just took it back..........etc etc etc etc ad nauseum."
