Invation of Poland - 69 years ago today

Germany invaded Poland 69 years ago today,followed by Russia 2 weeks later.
A reminder why we should never trust The Germans and Russians. ....The Germans are trying to take Poland now by peaceful means.....

Sort of calls to mind that old joke about the American kid in school who becomes friends with a English exchange student. One day the American boy sees his new pal from the UK and punches him square in the nose! The other kid falls to the ground and almost crying says, "What was that for, Billy?" The American boy, "That's for the American Revolution!" "But that was almost two hundred years ago!", so the English boy, to which our Yankee responds "Yeah, but I only learned about it today!":-)

My point here is that remembering the past, be it the German invasion of Poland, Katyn, The Holocaust etc. is certainly respectable, so long as it emboldens us to change the future rather than embitter us to hold eternal grudges based on past events.

It was until the moment Poland took the first batch of cash from Germany. There is a rule which makes all previous abuse irrelevant when the abused woman jumps into bed with the abuser.

If I were German or Russian I would tell Poland to get lost trying to dump any type of generational guilt on me.

Meanwhile - in the real world, my neighbour was rendered homeless by broken pipes flooding, and although she is a pensioner, and penniless, nobody from the town hall helped her (there is no extreme hardship fund).

I have worked very hard, to expect safe pavements and so on. You have them in Norway. We don't here. Instead we have people who need no encouragement from Miloslaw or your nationalist self to bang on about "69 years ago today" becasue that absolves from from providing a social service. Who said anything about money Miloslaw? I was saying that a neighbour is penniless, flooded out, and no one can or is willing to help her. She has some friends who feed her and let her sleep on their couch sometimes, but she is 69 for God's sake. There should be an emergency fund for this type of thing. In fact, as it is social housing, anywhere else the town hall would have to temporarily rehouse her.

What that has to do with my personal finances I don't understand. Instead of being concerned for its citizens, the Poles prefer to dwell on their past struggles.

Nonsense. An old lady, living in rented accommodation, which is flooded out, would have to be rehoused, albeit temporarily, by social services. It's the law.
