Well, my thinking is not erroneous, my observation skills are fine so maybe you just do not understand what I mean by Soviet Poland.
I'm glad Soviet Poland is over, really. But your logic was a fallacy, in that case. Hitler was apparently a defender of animal rights. Defenders of animal rights are good guys. Therefore, Hitler was a good guy. That's the kind of silly fallacy I'm talking about. It's funny, but it makes no sense ;)
while atheist are seeing it as a invitation to impose their ideology and to build society without religion.
No, you're mistaken here. It's about the freedom of belief, opinion, no matter which one is yours. Poland is a big country, it's not one big community, there are different people, and that's why the state that represents ALL people should be 'neutral'. That's it.
Wilanów, Ursynów, Mokotów,Ursus... nobody displaying pictures, candles, flowers..Where are you living? Of course people are not working, it is an official holiday.
Those who view religon only in terms of ritual and tradition would do well to consider one thing that has never been improved upon so far: the Judeo-Christian Decalogue -- the perfect code regulating human behavior and interpersonal relations.
Just imagine how many fewer broken homes, divorces, custody battles, parental abductions, (filthy rich lawyers!), patchwork families and confused, fatherless or otherwise traumatized and maladjusted kids there would be if the 6th commandment were more widely followed: Thou shalt not commit adultry!
Although thou shalt not kill, steal and bear false witness (lie) also fully deserve to be abided by.
In which part of Poland are you residing (let me guess Polska B Chicago?). The part of Warsaw I am living in, Bielany, does not show any candles, PIS posters, flowers whatsoever.
Of course people are not working, it is an official holiday.
I'm sure if you would notice processions and stuff like that you wouldn't believe your eyes and dismiss it all as a figment of your imagination.YES, holly day - Corpus Christi
I'm glad Soviet Poland is over, really.
Do you? Do you even remember Soviets Poland let alone to hold opinion about it? Anyway Soviet Poles are still around and they and their progeny are doing good for themselves and less so for Poland. Well I don't care about somebody's motivation if they support Soviet Poles because they are supporting animal rights or for other reason makes not difference to me. The fact is they are at least fellow travelers at least on PF.
No, you're mistaken here
I'm not! Even here you can read what they think. I don't mean declaration but what they think about practical solutions in a secular country.
Prayer and spriitual contemplation can provide balance, harmony and inner peace to those who have tried it. The fact is the many self-prclaimed atheists base their godlessness on ignorance, convenience and/or spiritual sloth. Have they truly ever tried to fathom the spiritual and transcendental dimension of life? Or have they dismissed it out of hand, without every really devoting any erious thought, time and effort to it? Even a fraction fo what they have devoted to life's physicality -- jobs, money, creature comforts, material possessions and the like.
In a sense they are saying: 'If you can't eat, drink, wear, drive or sh*g it, it ain't worth bothering about."
That's also my dog's atttiude except for one tjhing. He doesn't drive a car.
Prayer and spriitual contemplation can provide balance, harmony and inner peace to those who have tried it.
It can - and so can many other practices. Some religious and some not. Increasingly the ones you describe are becoming less popular in PL, as the Church'e own statistics show.
Standing-room-only churches were packed with overflow congregations today and (contrary to the wishful thinking of the diehard, foaming-at-the-mouth secularists) not in some Poland B, but right in central Warsaw. That is where the real Poland was. But that is something some people will never grasp.

I mean what is your age? I do understand a need to fight and sometimes pure idiocy or falsehood of this or that poster irritate me to the point I use a whip of a language to teach them a lesson.
However I base most of my discussions on the logic and the truth. I do make an attempt to understand my opponent and I'm not judgmental, I understand a human condition and many weaknesses and I'm humble in my appraisal of people.
You on the other hand by the way you post and what you post more often than not make a conscious effort to antagonize all people who do not think like you and especially those who are not religious, not to mention anti-religious characters and those who hate Catholicism.
You show them a proverbial finger. I wonder whatever for? You really do Catholics a disservice.
In a place where i live, in the UK the whole church was packed full... Poland will never dissapear, this leftist trend of atheism and anti-churchill mentality will soon dissapear. Soon ! Polonius, dont lose ur hope ;)
In Poland people go to church, but many don't follow the churchs' teachings. They drink, they smoke, they have sex before marriage, they steal, they lie, etc. They just go to church to show others that they are believers, but they are not.
Tygrys- please read the blanket statements thread before you post again. Lenka

I bet in America they do! All cheating smoking ******* and stealing Poles are laughing at you, hahhahahaha you are not going to the church and yet you do not do all those things, you must be jealous like hell. hahhaha

Then there has never ever been a Catholic. Not even Jesus who enjoyed a drink and worked on the day Sabbath. And seeing how the Pope goes to confession(admits to sin) you have answered the question "Is the Pope Catholic?" According to you he isn't.
Prayer and spriitual contemplation can provide balance, harmony and inner peace to those who have tried it.
Your view on the world is pure Roman paganism. Christianity isn't about contemplation, Church going, rituals, rules...none of that stuff. It's about giving your neighbor the benefit of a doubt. It's about tolerance. It's not about questioning other people's lifestyles.
No, it's mainly about morality, living a decent life, serving God and fellow-man and rising above 'me, myself & I'. Besides JPII, a truly great, inspriational Christian was Protestant pastor Dr Abert Schweitzer who advised: 'Remember you are not alone in this world, your brother is here too!' In plain English: altruism.
I'm Polish, I'm an atheist, and I have nothing against Catholics or the Catholic Church, as long as they don't impose their deity's laws on me, as long as their church pays taxes like we do, and as long as my taxes are not being wasted on their church.
