Age of Enlightenment in Poland?

Could the mods perhaps clarify if the poster is actually in PL or not?

I think he is not. He reminds me of a certain guest poster who was saying how they resent the Polish people down there in his country of Slovakia and how much they love the Russians in Slovakia until the mods revealed he was posting from Brazil.

Weren't you the guy who wanted to force me to leave here?

No, I suggested that a change of scenery might make you happier. Why would you think I was (or could be) forcing you to leave? You're not paranoid, are you?

I am posting from Poland, but the fact that I have a am,\ will not be revealed by anyone, because a proxy server could say that I am in Poland while I am not.

All of the ad hominims seem uncessary considering that I said I actually LIKE a lot of things about this country. I just don't like the church and its influence.

I never will.

No, I suggested that a change of scenery might make you happier. Why would you think I was (or could be) forcing you to leave? You're not paranoid, are you?

I love the scenery here!

I hope I'm not paranoid. I just think that the general attitude in this country is inhospitable compared to America which allowed in millions of Polish and gave them full rights to criticize anything they want and gave them freedom of religion.

That's not quite true. Catholics were heavily discriminated against for years, and even today, Catholics are the largest group by religion and yet are still seen as somehow inferior.

Let's not even mention the fact that saying bad words about God in the Bible Belt is a thoroughly bad idea.

My advice (I know you didn't ask for it) is to try to laugh off the stuff you find crazy and focus on the good stuff, like your civilized friends and the beautiful countryside. There's a lot I didn't like about everywhere I've lived, including Poland, but I choose to ignore that which irks me. btw, I'm half Irish, and I remember Ireland in the 60s and 70s, and the power the RC Church had then. Well, things changed there, and they are changing here, too, for exactly the same reasons.

I do Roger!

I'm actually blowing off steam just by typing this.

There is a lot to like here, and a lot to laugh/cry at here.

I like this place alot, but there are some medieval remnants of barbarity that still shock the senses of a typical American here.

Roman Papists are not "oppressed" by anyone. They have over 1000 years history of murder and bloodshed where ever they go.

Papist Fanatics who dream of being persecuted while persecuting others are lunatics.

Roman Papists

A very pejorative expression. I'm no fan of some of the ways organised religion manifests in society, however it's best to avoid such phrases.

We all have pejorative expressions, the word "nazi" is prejorative as well. I don't see an issue with calling a murderous institution pejoratively.

Regarding pejorative, I'd suggest you google "polishforums.com islam"

You will most certainly have a lot to be offended by, since you are consistent, and all.

I'm frequently offended by some of the craft that people say here about Muslims, Jews or other minorities. Two wrongs don't make a right though.

Not_polish,

I am really sorry that you you appear to be having some difficulty here in Poland.

Having lived in both countries and after reading you posts, I feel that you would be much happier in the UK, there are allot of people there who like you who have a classic liberal view of everything and you would probably fit in,

The benefit payments are good, and if you have an EU passport you could obtain money almost straight away, the health care is good (although the waiting times are a little longer than in poland) on the upside there are fewer things to pay for such as some prescription charges and dental care charges (All free). If you also have a family you will be high up on the list to get council housing.

Please take a look I think it could be a great opportunity for you.

I don't have any grievances, just observations.

Regarding the public housing, thanks for the offer, but I already have two houses, one in Poland, one in the US.

I also make an American salary, which is pretty nice given the exchange rate at the moment.

My tax write off goes directly to helping poor Polish people get food and clothing, as well.

Americans believe in real charity, fyi.

Not Polish,

I apologize, I got the impression that you were having some problems here in Poland and I wrongly tried to help.

Nice to know that you are giving your tax write off to to help poor Polish people get food and clothing as well.

I did the same when I was working in Texas, My tax write off also went directly to helping poor American people get food and clothing.

Good that we can reciprocate,

It's difficult to say what problems he has. The most serious of his problems seems to be the one with the Age of Enlightment in Poland. The other ones are simply trivial. My impression is that he is just in need of talking to someone ...

I'd say now that "not_polish" is German rather than American. Or could he enlighten us perhaps more on this subject?

German? I wish!

However, I am incredibly proud of my German heritage. No other country comes close to this nation in intellectual achievement, bar the Ancient Greeks.

Germany - an oasis of civility in an ocean of barbarity.

Last I heard, people could be prosecuted here for insulting the papacy

That's fascinating.

I was in Wisla when the pope's funeral was on television. The local farmers in 2 bars I visited were celebrating his demise in a BIG way, whooping and laughing and using the most vile language.

Nobody came to arrest them because they are proles and their homes don't have a telescreen with Big Brother watching them.

Luckily I am not a catholic or I would have had to offer them out, one by one :)

Everyone knows that catholic priests crave 5 year old boy-ass more than an alcholic craves a drink.

Paedophilia is the drug of choice for catholic priests.

Yet you vomit your hate toward Christians in the same manner every chance you get here jon.

Can you show me an example of when you called out someone for dissing muslims or jews living in Poland?@jon

Of course not as jon closes ALL threads on Muslims and Islam so the truth is silenced. Go look for yourself on SEARCH.
It is very clear how not only the Polish people feel about Muslims but also the majority of the people who post here.
Poland is very enlightened to the age of enlightenment.
Just to bad we are not allowed to enlighten the subject here.

Poland is not really 'enlightened.' its a barbaric place like muslim countries. islam and catholicism are both harmful, brutal superstitiouns.

Plus, Christians hate papists more than I do. Anyone who calls himself a Christian reads the bible, and knows that the Roman pagan papacy is the antithesis of everything preached by the Nazarene.

Pedophilia in the church has been a problem. But it could be worse. Just look at germany:

"Its not every day that a major European political party has to apologize for having supported pedophilia, but two weeks ago, the German Green Party had to do just that. For the past year and a half, investigators commissioned by the party have been probing its past associations with pro-pedophilia groups, and their report has been shocking to many Germans. It found that the German "pedosexual movement," which advocated the legalization of "consensual" sex between adults and children, found a surprisingly warm reception in the party in the 1980" newrepublic.com/article/120379/german-green-party-pedophilia-scandal

The German are the undisputed Champions when it comes to cruelty. They are not even in the same league as the poles. Everyone knows about the German reign of terror on the populace in areas occupied by the germans during WW2. Especially poland. But a lesser known fact is that the germans, despite their limited presence in Africa, already commited a large scale genocide on the Herero and Namaqua people in Namibia 30 years earlier. Another day at work for the germans i guess. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herero_and_Namaqua_Genocide
