Good morning from Amsterdam.
Is there any translation available in english of the full text of the Act of Union of Horodło ? I have a part of it, and love the language, and would like to read the whole text.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
The text I have:
Nor can that endure which has not its foundation upon love. For love alone diminishes not, but shines with its own light, makes an end of discord, softens the fires of hate, restores peace to the world, brings together the sundered, redresses wrongs, aids all and injures none.
And who so invokes its aid shall find peace and safety and have no fear of future ill; through it laws are made, kingdoms are ruled, cities ordered, and the state of the Commonwealth attains to the highest end...
Let those be united to us by charity and made equal, whom the practice of religion and the identity of laws and privileges has bound to us. And we promise by our immutable and solemn word that we will never desert them...
He shall receive no grace of salvation whom love does not sustain. .... .It is love that creates laws, rules nations, builds cities and leads the republic to her best destinies, perfects all virtues of the virtuous.....
