Monitor 13 | 1810 7 May 2013 / #6In 2004 we thought that you are one of rich western countries (maybe not rich as Germany, but still way above us) with nice weather superb sea and ancient monuments. Substantial number of Pols even illegally emigrated there. We didn't know much about people. After 2008 we know that you're shouting, demonstrating, lazy southerns who are having big economic problems and high unemployment thanks to your tax chiting, but still you must be better well off than Poles, because you have nice weather and those who work still do have nominally much higher salaries than we here. Also since 2004 many Poles got reach enough to have vacation there, so most of people know somebody who visited Athens and learned that ancient monuments are in reality just ruins. We have nothing against you. You are Christian, cradle of European civilization, have never invaded us, so Greeks in Poland are welcomed.
OP elladapolska 7 May 2013 / #7ela, its also a word very common in greece and its one of the first words tourists learn!

delphiandomine 86 | 17823 7 May 2013 / #10We have nothing against you. You are Christian, cradle of European civilization, have never invaded us, so Greeks in Poland are welcomed. You do know of the existence of the Greek Communist minority in Poland, especially near Zgorzelec and Kroscienko?
Monitor 13 | 1810 7 May 2013 / #11"You do know of the existence of the Greek Communist minority in Poland, especially near Zgorzelec and Kroscienko?"Nobody knows that. Some people have heard that some Greeks escaped to Poland from Hunta in communistic times but it's not advertised that anybody except of singer Eleni has stayed here until now. Ok maybe people next to Zgorzelec know about it, but not in the north.
delphiandomine 86 | 17823 7 May 2013 / #12They left long before that - after the Communists lost in the civil war there, some of them certainly did end up in Poland.Look here - borderidentities.soton.ac.uk/commun02b.htm
OP elladapolska 7 May 2013 / #13it is heard in greece too that a lot of people escaped in poland from hunta...i actually was born and live in Thessaloniki, Greece and its not as bad as it is in Athens...I found out that i have polish roots from my grandmother a few mothns ago and i tried to find polish people in my age who live in the same town as me... I heard that there are some Poles every saturday in the Roman Catholic church and ill go sometime.. i also went to the Consulate of the Republic of Poland to ask if there are any schools that i can learn the language because i really want to...
delphiandomine 86 | 17823 7 May 2013 / #14i actually was born and live in Thessaloniki, Greece and its not as bad as it is in Athens...I have a friend from there, over on the East side of the bay.
Astoria - | 153 7 May 2013 / #16Is it reasonable to ask what 38 million people think of 11 million people or what 11 million people think of 38 million people? No. But I can tell you what I think of Greek feta cheese. I like it.
Monitor 13 | 1810 7 May 2013 / #17Polish is considered one of the hardest languages to learn. At least to learn conjugation of verbs is pain in ass, because it's mostly plain memorizing. But it's not necessary to conjugate properly in order to be understood and without it, it is same difficult as any other language. Good thing for you is that Greeks can learn perfect pronunciation of polish words. I mean they don't have problems properly pronouncing polish cz ź sz ć and other after a little bit of exercise.
OP elladapolska 7 May 2013 / #18yeah you're right at first i tried to learn a polish song... it took me a week because of some difficult words like "wszystkim" and "zdobędziemy"... the difficult part is the "sz" or "szc" cause i cant hear it from a person so i can get help...
