WOULD EUROPE BE SAFER IF ŚLĄSK, SCOTLAND ET AL WERE FREE?

To varying degrees various European regions are demanding greater autonomy or outright independence. Would granting this make for a safer, more conflict-free Europe?
This could include Corsica, Wales, Silesia, Basque country, Scotland, Northern Italy and possiobly others. The opposite phenomenon (reunification) could apply to Romania and Moldova - the latter an artifical enclave created by Stalin.

Not if that means just more nation states.

Europe needs more regions but less nation states...
That is a development that needs to grow naturally and slowly.

Not if that means just more nation states.

Exactly, we don't want to have hundreds of small countries like in the middle ages.
We want a European Empire - as united and strong as possible. With the huge industrial,
scientific and demographic potential, able to compete with other World's superpowers.

BTW - how many people in Silesia want independence (or even autonomy)? 2-3%?

I propose that all European regions adopt the flag of Thuringia, Germany.

Thuringia??? Why especially Thuringia?

Don't you think the regions can come up with their own flags???
(The bavarian flag hangs as high as the german flag...in Bavaria that is...) ;)

I would also vote for Hessen flag, turned upside down ;)

The American flag started with 13 stars and it is quite handsome with 50 now.

BTW, thanks for translating that plaque the other day; I'll post some pics of the German WWI cemetery in Mazury another time.

But with 100 too? I think we would make the 100 quite easily...

Just look at this:
Right now they count 260 (not all in the EU though)..

Scotland and Wales are one thing, but do you honestly think that Silesia has any chance for an independance?
Free Silesia would mean huge economical difficulties for both Poland AND Silesia. Both countries would loose a lot and small countries with weak economy become dependent on bigger nations and loose importance on the World Stage. Furthermore, at least 50% of people living in Silesia are Poles, so the national language could never be declared Silesian because the Polish half would become enraged and, knowing our national character, they would carry on with uprisings - which obviously would be encouraged and supported by Poland, while Silesia would get no help from anybody. Given that Silesia would have no army, there would be no way of suppressing the uprisings and so Poles would have won and Silesia would go back to Poland where Silesians would certainly find themlesves in DEEP ****.

Virtually all you mentioned (except Scotland) have no real claim to independence and no Europe would be bloody destabilized.

Free Silesia would mean huge economical difficulties for both Poland AND Silesia

No actually it would mean huge economic difficulties for Poland and MASSIVE income for Silesia, the only claim those bastards have is that they're greedy fvcks and autonomy would grant them mountains of money.

Furthermore, at least 50% of people living in Silesia are Poles

92% to be exact, the majority of Silesians when ask in a survey ticked "Silesian" and "Polish" or just "Polish", only 5% ticked "Silesian" only or other posibility.

I would also vote for Hessen flag, turned upside down ;)

Hessen got its flag wrong!

"Free" from what actually?

The times that minorities and their regions were bloodily suppressed by the nation states fearing their cohesion should behind us now....I think...
