A comparative paper: comparing Polish border policies with American border policies

Hello, I'm preparing to write a paper comparing Polish border policies with American border policies. I thought that this would be interesting being that Polish borders have shifted so constantly, and America is admist a near crisis between people passing through its borders illegally. I was wondering if there was any sites out there that would be good for research (aside from Wikipedia as I cannot use this as a "reliable source.")

Thanks

- MichaƂ

It's going to be a stretch drawing parallels. You'd have better time describing the differences.

Yeah, I know it isn't the best topic, but I was strapped for time/lazy so I threw together something that remotely interested me.

I figure I'm going to write something along the lines of

Introduction
American background
American policies
Polish background
Polish policies
Compare/Contrast etc.

etc...

etc.

It's for my Comparative Government class

Hi,
You can use Wikipedia indirectly. On the bottom of almost each wiki's article are sections "References", "Futher reading" and "see also" - inestimable source. Try for example History of Poland or Territorial changes of Poland.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Poland
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territorial_changes_of_Poland

If you are ambitious and have enough time I recommend the book "God's Playground" by Norman Davies.

Hi

@mstapor1 one thing you shouldn't forget about Polish borders is that part of it is also EU borders. So there are different rules for internal EU borders and external ones. What is more within internal borders there are two types of it Schengen and not Schengen becuase not every EU country is part of a Schengen zone (Poland is) and because of that there are different rules for example for foreigners living in Poland regarding visas and their legal ability to travel within an EU. If I'm correct then all EU neighbours of Poland are in Schengen but as in current world airports are also kind of a border zone, there are different rules for different people there.

Anyway, maybe this will help you: frontex.europa.eu

It is an EU agency managing borders issues, which headqurater is based in Warsaw.
