Polish version of my name -Sławomir?

Dobry wieczór wszystkim :)

As a guy of Polish descent who also happens to speak the language and likes the country and the culture, I was wondering - theoretically, how would you translate my name, which, in my native language means "Splendour, Glory, Majesty" into a Polish name?

I'm pretty sure it would be something with a -sław suffix, but I'm not sure about the actual name.

Any ideas? ;)

Dang! I just realised that Sław-o-mir and Mir-o-sław are the same name.

Sławomir it's Sławek shorter.
Mirosław it's Mirek shorter.
Like Ola and Olga isn't thisame name.

Yah I know. But the meaning of the name is the same:
Mir o Sław is just a Sław o Mir spelled backward. :)

I know, I'm not a blonde :P . But the meaning is also opposite and it makes a different.

What about Sobiesław, Jarosław, Stanisław?

...Zdizdisław, Bogusław (my own favorite!)....

it's Russian meaning of this word. In Polish it means 'pokój - peace' also 'poważanie - esteem, respect'

So you say Mirosław/Sławomir is actually the closest in meaning? :P

Someone who praises the glory would be called Sławosław, the one who praises the peace would be called Mirosław or Sławomir. I don't know which meaning is closer to the meaning of your name, you have to decide for yourself.

I guess I praise the glory itself, since I supposedly am "full of glory" and "spread glory everywhere I go" (bullsh*t! haha :D) therefore Sławosław should be more appropriate IMO. :) Dziękuję!

The English name with the exact same meaning would be "Rumfred". Not particularly common, but it exists.

Makes perfect sense! "Sław-" = glory + "mir" = peace/world (like Russian) < "Rum-" (> "Ruhm" = glory in German) + "fred" = peace > "Frieden" in German, "fred" in Danish, Swedish and Norwegian:-)
