Can anyone advise where I can find information about a Polish Airman, last known whereabouts Maghull, Liverpool, Uk, around 1946/47. All we have to go on is a photograph with an address on the back. BERNER ARTUR, ORNETA, UL.BRANIEWSKA.7, BRANIEWO, OLSZTYN, POLAND. We have recently discovered that this man is the biological father of my partner, and we are anxious to find anything about him, but accessing Polish records is proving difficult. Any guidance on where to research would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou very much. Julie.

Merged: Searching for birth/birthplace: Johan Friderich/Friedrich Berner approx 1786

Dear Sirs,

First of all, I am sorry but I don't have much information regarding my great-times 5-grandfarther, so I know this is a long shot.

But after many years of searching I have to try every option.

In the Danish churchbooks Johan Friedrich Berner was born in 1786 in either Stettin or in Eutin (Holsten, germany). Sometimes Stettin is mentioned and other times Eutin is mentioned as his birthplace.

I have searched Germany records without any results.

Maybe he was born i Stettin and later moved to Eutin.....?
One time this word/name was written: Alsiin (i don't know the meaning of this word/name....anyone?)

He must have arrived to Denmark after 1801 (not to be Found in the national count 1801) but before 1814 where he married Christiane Clausdatter Møller 4th July in Rødby (name of town). He had 5 children (maybe Their names Can be of any help): Lovise Johansdatter, Susanne Sofie Berner, Christian Frederik Berner, Christiane Frederiche Johansdatter Berner, and Mariane Berner

He worked as a mastersmith (schmiedmstr.) in Denmark. He died 1864 in Denmark

Again, I am sorry that I Can not provide more details, but the Danish records is incomplete and contradictory

Best regards
Pernelle, Denmark

Stettin is now known as the Polish city of Szczecin which is in North West Poland. It belonged to Germany until 1945 as part of the state of Prussia.

Dear Pam,
Thank You. I have Read about Stettin and its churches. The only Berner I Can find in these parts is Friedrich Berner in Treptow an der Rega (108 km from Stettin), but unfortunately the site did not give many information. He was a fabermstr and godfather (taufpate) to many children. Maybe he was related to "my" Johan Friedrich Berner? In Denmark we have a online churchbook-searchmachine but that does not seem to be the case in Poland?
