I have come across the surname Yang. One of my great, great aunt's married a Joseph Yang in Trembatschau,Silesia,Poland. The marriage would have been around the 1890's.

YANG - possibly a misspelling of Jung. Some non-German heard it as Jang and write it down that way. In the English-speaking world the émigré respelled it Yang so as not to be called Jang (Dżęg). With no other facts to go on this hypothesis is equally difficult to prove or disprove.

Not at all, just look what OP wrote.

Trębaczów; a small village east of Wrocław. I’m sure there were many Asians there in 1890’s. There’s probably none there even today. Only a fool would suggest that it’s of Asian origin. It may even have Jewish connection which was dismissed by BB. Many Jews were given and assumed Jung as their last name presumably because they were young at the time when surname became obligatory. That sounds much more plausible than some Asian theory.

If you want to use Internet reasonably you need to have some knowledge, copy-paste is not enough.

Yang looks like Jewish surname, not Polish for sure. I found Jang, maybe it is the same version but misspelled?

i agree with the misspelled version

fact that Polish/Eastern European surnames were 'americanized' but another important fact is that Jewish people, those who lived under the German rule during partition of Poland and earlier, went through a 'germanization of Jews' process back in XVI and XVII century

what that meant for them is that most of them 'germanized' their surnames or assumed proper German names

Your version of Yang is probably americanized version of Jung as Polonius wrote

You know that the German Empire had colonies in China and that quite a few people from the colonies moved to Europe?

It could be a Polonisation of the Scots name Young. There was considerable immigration from Scotland to Poland over the years, including to Silesia. There are a few surnames like that.
