Can I find out more with the following info? My grandmother [maiden name of Socha - born 1894] came over to U.S. in 1912 from an area labeled Bialobrzegi, Galicia. Also noted was Szczwan, Austria as her last place of residence. Her mother's maiden name was Moson. I would like to find out more about the Moson connection - about my great-grandmother, Mary Moson....who her family might have been.

SOCHA: a primitive wooden plough (widely used before the advent of the iron ploughshare); or topo nick from Socha, Sochocin et al

MOSOŃ: probably from old first names such as Mościsław or (if Jewish) -- Mojżesz (Moses).

My Mother was born and raised in Bialobrzegi which a small rural village (now becoming quite 'suburban' in recent years) located just outside of Lancut which is a small city located near Rzeszow in the Podkarpackie voivodship. This area would have been part of Galicia in the 1894-1912 pre-WW1 time frame.
