Was he a member of the Haller's army?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Army_%28Poland%29

You can try to contact the:

Centralne Archiwum Wojskowe, PL-00-910 Warszawa- Remberto'w, Pologne

However many personal acts where destroyed in WW2!

For th POW story: aproximately 400.000 polish soldiers (nearly 16.000 "Offiziere") where captured by the Germans. Furthergoing 200.000 polish civilians under suspect of being part of a paramilitary organisation where arrested also. All about 10.000 polish POW died.

If he was a POW you can contact:
ITS International Tracing Service
Große Allee 5-9
D-34454 Bad Arolsen
Germany

(They take some time! For the last answer I got from them I had to wait nearly 1 year!)

Greetings from Germany

So not a Polish citizen then, but either a German, Austrian or Russian.

he was indeed polish citizen

Not when he was born. If you want to find out more about your ancestor, you need to look at the historical context.

EDIT:
Just saw that you posted your question before. Why don't you stay in the old thread, dude?

I found a listing at digi.landesbibliothek.at/viewer/image/AC08513816_Verl... for
Toporowski Semen, LstInft., k.k. LstB. Nr. 217, Galicia, Sokal, Siebieczów, 1876; kriegsgef., RuBland.
Anyone able to provide further information as to what this is referring to?

I am trying to obtain WW1 military records/discharge records for my great uncle, Jozef Czuba. He was born April 12, 1899 in Słotowa , Galicia, Austria. He joined The Polish Army in France, also known as Haller's Army or the Blue Army, in Schenectady, New York in 1917. He was transported to Niagra on the Lake on Oct. 28, 1917 on Transport 4, for training. He became an officer. How and where can I obtain his military record? I would love to know where he served. I would also like to confirm that he was in the calvary. Thanks for any help you can give.
