OP mbartosiak 1 | 1 14 Feb 2010 / #6Thanks for the quick response. I had printed out most of this information already. How can I trace the Bartosiak Name in Golina? Is there some one that could help me with that. I have grand mothers maiden name and grandpa fathers name. It also looks like there are about 3 different towns with the same name in that area. It can be confusing when you dont speak or read Polish. Is ther some thing wrong with the name Bartosik? It looks like in 1918 they changed it to Bartosiak. What differance is there in just one letter? Thanks in advence for any help.Mad Mike

Polonius3 980 | 12276 15 Feb 2010 / #8Bartosik and Bartosiak are variant patronymic nicks from Bartoś (short for Bartłomiej/Batholomew) or Bartosz, a first name in its own right. In some cases they could have originated as toponymic nicks derived from Bartosy, Bartosze, Bartoszki, Bartoszewo or other such places.
