I've been working on this for 4 yrs. now. The biggest problem is when my gr-grandfather came to America he settled in Philadelphia, all the records(civil) were destroyed in a fire, so I have no record of where in Poland he lived. I feel if I can find living relatives of the family maybe I can get the Polish history restored.....Thanks for your interest.....rinny

all the records(civil) were destroyed in a fire,

Does this include Naturalization Records.

I assume you have checked Ship's Records. yes/no ?

Check the new additions to the Genealogy Resources thread.

Rinny Hello, my name is Lizandro, live in Brazil and saw his testimony and I was very curious.
The name of my mother is Leoni Laci Jakobowski Godinho, daughter of: Leon Jakobowski and Adelina Jakobowski.
Leon Jakobowski is the son of Adam Jakobowski and Morjana Jakobowski.
I am looking for documents to apply for dual citizenship Polish, but unfortunately were also destroyed by fire.
My great grandfather was born in Lublin, Poland (Franz Jakobowski) in 1893
and my grandfather was born in Pommern Germany (Leon Jakobowski) in 1920

I am looking for birth certificates, documents of proof of nationality. My grandfather Leon jakobowski come to Brazil in a ship called Flandria in 1928, with their parents.

If you want to learn more about these people send an email.
If you have something relating to these persons me.

Lizandro Cesar Godinho

Obrigado

I am not speaking English

My gr-grandfather left Poland in 1884

No, he didn't. He left Prussia/Germany, Russia or Austria-Hungary - which was it?

good question , some of his papers Poland, some Prussia, some Polish Germany. His immigration papers states his last residence was Bremen, Germany. All U.S. records I have collected have different origins, but no town of origin.

Aha, very interesting.

moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/perz.html

From what you say (and what the map says) - it's likely he was from Prussian Poland.

evening

There was a Johann Perz sailing around the time of your ancestor. Unlikely that his name would have been John if he was living in the Prussian section of what is now Poland

Although this is an English geneology website, there are the records of the passenger lists into New York
and the best bit is that there is a two week free trial

Happy Geneology

Hi, My name is Maurycy Perz and this family name is quite popular around western border of Warsaw (this is were I live). My father track his family roots to Babice Stare where some old graves with this name can be still found. Unfortunatelly no records before 1870.

Hi Maurycy, I wonder if we could be related. My gr-grandfather was Jahn perz. I'm not sure on his village, but I know his sister Petronella was married in Pruchnowo,Gniezniesnki county,at the Debnica Parish, the year was 1885. I believe my gr-grandfather also had two brothers, Lawrence and James or maybe Thomas. Does any of this information fit into your fathers research? I would love to hear from you. You can also contact me thru facebook (Mary Dashnier) ,Thank you,Mary
