Hi, I'm looking for relatives of my gr-grandfather John Perz. He left poland in 1885, he had at least two brothers James and Lawrence. I don't know where in Poland he was from. Some documents say German Poland, Prussia , or just Poland. I would like to find relatives in Poland to share family genealogy. If you have any info that would help please feel free to contact me, I welcome any help. Thank you Rinny11
Looking for Perz Family
gr-grandfather John Perz
The northern part of Poland was Prussia at that time. If you have any records showing his last place of residence you should start looking there as there is a chance he was born there too.
Ship's manifests can be a good source of information. If he was a Pole living in Prussia then his name would have been Janusz or Jan but he have been registered as Johan. The Polish equivalent of Lawrence is Wawrzyniec, the Latin would be: Laurentius - Birth records may be in Latin or even German but don't know the German equivalent.
If you are able to provide more information you may find others on this site may help/
PERZ: (pronounced pesh) an archaic word for dust or dust storm (kurzawa) as well as an invasive weed that chokes out grain. Possibly topo nick from Perzyce or Perzów.

Perz in Poland
Hello, my gr-grandfather came from Poland, in records it states Poland-German ,or Prussia. I'm hoping to find family still living in Poland to complete the family tree . maybe someone can help me make sense of the Poland-german or Prussian reference. My gr-grandfather name was John Perz, he had two brothers ,James and Lawrence (I'm sure these names are Americanized). They left Poland around 1885. My gr=grandmother was Michalina Jakubowski, her parents were Vincent and Francisca (Piaskoska)Jakubowsk, they were from Sokolniki Gniezno but I don't have evidence that Michalina and John knew each other in Poland . I'd like to find where John was born so I can visit their home land. Please my Polish cousins, check your family tree to see if we fit in it.
Sincere regards, rinny

I know one Perz family but they are from Kraków area.
Look for Jan, Jerzy and Wawrzyniec
There was no Poland in 1885. They were from Prussia probably.
Franciszka (Piaskowska) Jakubowska.

I am a Perz, from the Cleveland, Ohio area. I believe John Perz is one of my direct ancestors, but I will need to confirm with my father to verify. I know that we are Goetcheers, Perz and Sivulka on my father's side (that I can recall at the moment). Beg pardon on the spelling, its late and what looks right at night often glares its mistakes in the morning.
My Grandmother was Stefana and had 5 Children :George (Bill), Robert, Dennis, Richard and Ruthanne. My father is George (Bill), and I share his namesake.
If you would like, you may email me directly at gperzcreeperz@yahoo and I will put you in the right hands. If we're family, then here's a bearhug from me <>

My gr=grandmother was Michalina Jakubowski,
There was a Matilda Jakubowski who was an ethnic rights administrator for Governor James Thompson (Illinois) back around 1980. ... but there seem to be a lot of Jakubowskis'.
