Polish nationality? Which of the following (if any) determine being Polish.

Paper is one thing, your heart is another. The paper is Irish, but you, the living person, your blood is what your parents are. Depends also of how much genes you get from your Polish parents (if you are half Irish). There are also cases in which twins by a French and African parents are born, a baby was white the other black. One had all the genes from the mother, the other from the father. lmao So if you get at most Polish genes and do not feel in the right country, you can easy go back to your origin. Maybe you can make a dual citizen? I don't know if this is possible in Ireland?


Yes if your parents don't keep any cultural links with their country you're pretty much there. If you never was in Poland, have no proud Polish parents, you go Irish.


Your children are probably not very proud of their Polish blood, they feel very American and if you're the only one in the family who wants to visit Poland, you can't move to Poland yes you're right.

It's nice you are proud of your Polish heritage, but you are really not a real Polish because you are so proud to be American and therefore think it is the best country to live, at most, you call America the greatest country in the world. And think of all Poles are jealous of you because you live in America. I visit America and I would never want to spend my future there. You never was in Poland so why can you say America is the greatest country? I think your heart is American, a real Polish should say Poland is the greatest country in the world ;-)

In case you don't know what that means, I had the second highest Grade Point Average in my graduating class of 550 students. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science degree from Northern Illinois University. Poland existed it was just occupied and controlled by three other countries. If it didn't exist Poland would not exist today. Poland is more than just its borders. I am currently living in the Us. but I am still proud of my heritage both on my father's (Polish) and my mother's side (Irish). Because my grandfather was born in Russian /occupied Poland that makes me Russian...I don't think so.


Well first of all it was against the law to do so. I am second generation American. I say American because I am an American citizen. Does that mean that my heritage is not Polish and Irish. Your heritage and history do not just fall off the map (excuse the pun) because you move somewhere else. My father at one point spoke Polish but I never learned. I wish to but it may prove to be difficult as my wife nor the rest of my immediate family don't either.

I was also curious about your friend and his tattoo. Are you referring to the falcon on the Polish flag or the American fraternal order of Polish Falcons that my grandfather was a member of?

FYI, it is an eagle, not a falcon, on the Polish flag.

Blood most definitely. People who are simply born in Poland are are of a different ethnicity aren't Polish, just Polish born. To be really Polish you gotta look it, speak it, think the way a Pole does. Polish born people of other ethnicity when they find out they are something else embrace it, as if they knew, felt they're different from they're Polish counterparts. Also them foreign born Poles, Poles of Polish descent are different, completely differ in mentality.

Funny you should say that because I have spoken to several of my cousins, whom were born and raised in Poland and they say I remind them of my second cousin ,Stefan, who is currently living in Poland. My father also says I often remind him of my grandfather in many ways.

I mean I am sure in many ways we are different being brought up in two totally different environments but you can't say I am not Polish because I can't speak the language. I mean what is the point of this site if we can't converse intelligently about our history and heredity and help each other to discover more about who and where we came from.

These arguments always end up to confused to be useful. People argue about what it is to be "Polish" when some obviously are thinking of nationality and some are obviously thinking of ethnicity or heritage. All are different things and not interchangable.

I am PROUD of my Polish heritage.
I am PROUD that my father survivied not only Siberia, but all of the fighting he did with Drugi Korpus Wojska Polskiego; and moreso each time I hold his Medals in my hand.

I am PROUD that the country of Poland, that has been treated like a "snow globe", that has been torn apart, shaken, dissolved, and reborn again and again, is still breathing.

I am PROUD of the fight for freedom from Communist control; and moreso because it allowed my father to return home for the first time since 1940.

I am PROUD to see the economy of Poland remain resilient and vibrant while most of the rest of Europe quivers.
I read recently (and I cannot find the article to quote it) that people, all people, of Polish decent are the PROUDEST ethnic group.
So, I say to all of you......be PROUD to consider yourself POLSKA.
