laszlo - | 1 22 Jan 2012 / #3Merged: Looking for ancestors of the Czerny family of Nymburk, CzechI am looking for ancestors of the Czech origined Czerny family, migrated from Nymburk in the late 18th century. According to family legends, three brothers migrated abroad, one (Wenzel Czerny, father of Carl Czerny the great composer, music pedagogue) to Vienna, one to Poland, and one to Hungary. I am the ancestor of the one migrated to Hungary. If anyone holds this name and knows about similar story, I would appreciate to get in touch with me.Laszlo
Polonius3 980 | 12276 22 Jan 2012 / #4CZERNY: this is the Polish spelling of the Czech word and surname Černý (meaqning black). In Poland it would be Czarny. Around 1,500 people in to day's Poland sign themselves Czerny. The largest concentrations are in and around Katowice, Bielsko-Biała and Kraków -- areas closest to Bohermia and also Hungary.

tracifritz 7 Nov 2013 / #6Hello, I am the great great grandaughter of Baron Czerny (and Baroness Amelia Czerny). They had a castle in Plzen, Austria. After the Baron died, Amelia gambled away the family fortune and castle. My great grandmother, Anna Czerny, was in an arranged marriage to Joseph Kara. The only surviving child, Vera Kara (Fritz) is my grandmother (passed). There is a book wrote of the Czerny family, //books.google.com/books?id=zz8oHEqQi3cC&pg=PT22&lpg=PT22&dq=baro n+czerny+austria+plzen&source=bl&ots=nP77b5TCtx&sig=E0E9KngLTn6Vl 2ivGXDw0Q8dzu8&hl=en&sa=X&ei=3eV6UtzRHoWPrQHGlYGoDg&ved=0CCkQ6AEw AA#v=onepage&q=baron%20czerny%20austria%20plzen&f=falseyou may contact me at tracifritz@yahoo
masontailor 2 Jan 2014 / #7I don't know if this is relevant but my grandmother [dob:1893] name was Julia Ann Czerny. I think she had a sister named Gerda, an uncle named Bernadus. I was told that Carl Czerny was a relative, not sure if he was an Uncle, Cousin...Julia married August Wenzel [dob: 1870] around 1911 and I think in Hamburg Germany. They immigrated to Canada about 1910-1911 from Hamburg.Sorry I couldn't help you more but if this is helpful please let me know.Connie Loeschmasontailor@gmail

masontailor 28 Mar 2014 / #9I also heard the same story from my grandmother, Julia Ann Czerny [Wenzel]. Julia was married from what I understand to August Wenzel, Sgt. in the early 1900's. Julia was born May 22, 1893. It's my understanding also that she had a sister name Gerda.Let me know if this helps. I have also been trying to find information on my grandmother.
