My grandmother's last name was Krolik, is this name Jewish?

It can be.

I think it is...there are variations..the jewish people adopted this name......even the goldsmith family etc...A good friend of mine has a really jewish appearance....i asked him..he didnt know..his name is also krol, coming from krall etc...../poland .....so i think there is a good chance you have this inheritance.

My last name is Krolik 2nd gerneration born in US. My Grand father Anton came to the States at the turn of the Century. He originally came to Chicago and then to Detroit. He served for the US in WWI was wounded. Was in the Artillery. I believe 3rd division. My Grandma named Lottie came over in1896 married once to a Koch who died they had 3 children. Then married Anton and had 3 more my father Joseph the youngest. I really never knew my grandfather, he was killed in an auto accident in1956. I was just 2yrs old. He did work for Chrysler at the time. We are Catholic. My grandma died in 1970 when I was 16. I also knew she owned a meat market in Detroit on the West side of the city. Looking to find out more about Krolik's here in USA and if I still have relatives in Poland.

KRÓLIK: Polish for rabbit; pronounced KROO-leek); could have been a name used by Polish Jews, since any Polish name can be and has been used by Jews.

KOCH: German/Yiddish for cook. This surname is still used in Poland although not as extensively as before the Second World War.

My grandfather's name was Antoni Krolik. I cannot find when he came to USA. I do know that he served in the 3rd Army 18th US field artillery Battery 6 from June 1917 to sometime in 1918 or 19 as he was part of the occupation force. He was not very good with English when he first came her. He was wounded at Chateau Thierry and got him a Purple heart 80 yrs later. I have researched Ellis Island web sites and found Antoni Krolik's but they were too old when they came to the US. I did find a Krolikowski though would seem to match his age by the passport which showed he was 30 in 1921 which means he was 22 when he came to the US in possibly 1913. Is it possible the name was shortened when he came to the US?
