Some PolAms learn from various sources that they've got some Jewish blood -- something that either fascinates them or turns them off. Would DNA testing reveal such ancestry? Forgive me if that is a naive quersiton, but I know next to nothing about genes, DNA or haplo stuff.
Would DNA test show Jewish genes?

What is Jewish blood?? Is there something like Christian blood?? I am Christian, is my blood when you look with a microscope fulled with Jesus crosses?

A powder-keg of a topic and most unscientific:-)
Best abandoned, I think.

This has to do with Jewidsh semitic ethnicity not religion. You can change religions but not one's ethnicity. At most you can deny it.
Oh, ok I understand .. I dont know many jews .. only 2 .. one was ok, the other was a strange weirdo ..
And the most beautiful girl I ever saw was Jewish. =)

i know there are certain factors for those Ashkanzie Jews......for example, if that is a part of your ancestry, you could be more suceptable to certain types of cancers. They do have certain markers, according to my doctor. I am actually going to talk with genetics counselor about this very thing, as we think we may be part Jewish somehow. I don't know if there is some kind of test that can determine certain traits, which would then determine a more likelihood of having in your blood or not. I don't know. i will let you know what genetics counselor says though.

Apparently so. A couple of online main stream media newspapers published articles not too long about defective genes being prevalent among those with Jewish ancestry and their proneness for certain kinds of health disorders:
Israel has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the world. Mortality is very low, in part because of intense screening.
Scientists discover gene that predisposes Ashkenazi Jews to schizophrenia; Variations of the DNST3 gene make Ashkenazi Jews 40 percent more likely to develop schizophrenia and similar diseases.
Yes, but at the same time, Ashkenazic Jews are more likely to possess genes that are linked to high level brain function.
It might explain why Jews have contributed more to science and academia in general compared to Christians or Muslims (per capita).

The answer is Yes. Although there is a Jewish religious sect today all over the world, there are also ethnic roots in it's origin. As it was forbidden to marry out of the religion, DNA markers developed identifying them.
I don't know if a medical DNA test is the same as an ancestral one. I think the medical one only looks for disease risk markers. Like you might have a marker that Jewish people have- but perhaps it got inserted from just one ancestor- where an ancestral test would tell you what percentage of your DNA is Jewish and from what geographical area it originated.
