Vegetarian/Vegan restaurants in Warsaw

Can anyone recommend a good vegetarian restaurant in Warsaw? Vegan would be good, but it doesn't have to be?

I used to sometimes have lunch at the Hare Krishna place behind Kino Femina but that's not really somewhere to take guests for an evening meal (which is why I'm asking).

I'm not especially interested in food faddish places doing raw food, organic-only macrobiotic etc (my guests aren't Gwyneth Paltrow!) - just somewhere nice that serves only veggie food. One with a good wine list would help.

If you pick up a copy of this months Insider there are 3 or 4 pages in an article about vegan food in Warsaw.

Guests. I don't eat that much meat and never ever chicken (having lived opposite a battery farm and seen how they are treated) but I'm not vegetarian, especially if there's a nice rare steak nearby or a delicious sucking pig (not in the David Cameron sense) with an apple in its mouth.

I actually found that online list already but am looking for actual recommendations from experience. It has to be fairly nice - not some 'green canteen'.

Thanks - I didn't know that was still in print. I'll have a look. Their restaurant reviews used to be appallingly prissy however they were at least neutral and unbiased - certainly they didn't hesitate to give a bad review to places that had paid to advertise in it.

Personal recommendations are still very welcome.

I see. Unfortunately, I can't help you. I can recommend a good veggie restaurant in Gliwice, but that's a little too far from Wawa ;)

Atelier Amaro will do a vegetarian menu if you let them know in advance.

@jon357 if you go to a Vegan eatery you HAVE to cycle there otherwise what's the point. ;)

Download the app Happy Cow, it has a great list of vegan friendly places all around the world! then download the app v- cards for translated statement about what we don't eat ie blood, flesh, organs etc.

I can recommend you a great restaurant that isn't actually vegetarian, but they do prepare vegetarian or vegan dishes. This restaurant is called the Akademia, and if you ask me it is one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Warsaw. This place's atmosphere is very nice and elegant, and the food they serve is excellent.

This just reads like an advert, and ia written by a Pole with a fairly good level of English, who recommended the same establishment in another thread.

There are a few vegetarian places in Warsaw now, one of the nicest is the Indian place (called Injachi) just off ul. Widok near Zapiexy (also very good if you like fancy zapiekanki), in the building between there and al. Jerozolimskie, the one closest to Metro Centrum, at the back of the (now building site) Rotunda.

BTW Indian curries are all not vegan or vegetarian.Most Indian restaurants are never vegetarian or vegan,But very smart thinking to merge.
