How do you pronounce and spell... a crispy powdered sugar coated pastry? My old grandma used to make a crispy powdered sugar coated pastry and I recall she called it something like "Kris-chooky" Does anyone know how that Polish pastry is spelled and pronounced please? Thank you very much,
chruściki would be my guess hroosh-CHEE-kee (the initial ch is like Spanish j if that helps)
One way to get round this is to use the other name for Polish angel-wing pastries: faworki (pronoucned: fa-VOR-kee).
YES! Thank you very much!
faworki
This is the proper name.
No it's not. In Cracow we call it chrust (hroost)
THANK YOU ... I remember the FaVORky as clear as day from 50 some years ago ... and was starting to think this was a false memory ... thanks for confirming my memory ...
My wife makes chrupki coated with powdered sugar.
