Hello everyone,

I am English and my girlfriend is Polish, I'd quite like to cook/bake some quick/easy desserts for her. What would you suggest for absolute classics which are quite easy and quick to make? - How authentic is this?

I can't post links, but google berserka-blueberry-mazurka and click the first link from Tillamook!

Thanks!

Fairly authentic. They aren't big on deserts, but plenty of cakes. If you want to cheat and live near a Polish shop, have a look at the packets of cake mix - big sellers in PL and easy to use.

I'd prefer to do it pretty much from scratch (not averse to using ready made pastry though!). I might try and give that one a go at some point. Cheers!

Traditional desserts, food and beer

Hello, my husband's family is Polish but his Grandpa recently died and I'm wanting make sure traditions are still carried on. His birthday is next week and I was wondering what some good desserts or food would be to cook? Also, good beer I could stock the fridge with?

Thanks for any advice!

How about

makowiec -poppy seed całe
sernik krakowski - a type of cheesecake
mazurek - typical Easter pie - it has different versions.
Pączki (similar to doughnuts) and faworki ('angel wings) eaten on Fat Thursday before the Lent.

Just google the names + recipe - there are English versions of the recipes.
