Hot tea is supperior to any cold drink in the hot season. And what is it with cold wodka? I can't taste anything when its cold and its absorbed not as good especially not through the tongue.

Man! there's a heat wave in poland, is over 90°F and somebody sell ice, if you go to the store things like waters, beers and juices not even cold and if you go to a friends house they kill you with a hot tea hehehe......In USA and other country you dont see that...

Why do you have to make this ridiculous generalization?

All the people I know in Poland use ice.

Nothing like free refills of supersized drinks, is there?

since you have never been to america Delph and as usual, you don't know what you're talking about when anything regarding america is the topic at hand, i'll help fill you in:

standard in a restaurant in America is a 12 oz glass. if you go to a chain place like TGIFriday's, Houlihans, ChiChi's, Pizza Hut, you usually will get a pint glass (16 oz). Add a bunch of ice to it and how much Coca-Cola do you get?.....i'd guess around 10 oz. Refills are free, and ice cold, every time.

only here, it's often times not cold enough or has 2 ice cubes floating at the top, you have to pay (overpay) for every refill, and it doesn't taste like Coca-Cola, or Pepsi, or Mountain Dew because it was bottled in warsaw and made with some funky sugar alternative (but that's a whole 'nother topic now ain't it....how soda tastes completely different in Europe than in the good ole' USA)

again, if you ever make it to America Delph, you'll have to taste the soda there to see the difference. delicious, and coooooooooooold ;)

man, i'd kill for a cold 20 oz. bottle of Mountain Dew from the states. it's gonna be 33 degrees C tomorrow.

VERY rarely does it occur, and when it does, everyone at the table after receiving the bill has the same response:

"Are you F#cking kidding me? They charged us for refills!"

you KNOW i'm spot on with this, plk123.

WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE?

My two Polish male teenage cousins were thrilled, when they ordered beverages with ice, while visiting the United States. They were also happy that many restaurants here, provide unlimited drink refills.

mcdees, taco hell et all do not have free refills.. most restaurants do however.. most but definitely not all.

Pizza Hut,

no free refills there.. you buy sodas by the glass or by the pitcher there..

it doesn't taste like Coca-Cola, or Pepsi, or Mountain Dew because it was bottled in warsaw and made with some funky sugar alternative

actually these are made with real beet sugar instead of the crappy corn syrup.. the throwback pepsi and dew that are sold here right now are made with real sugar like they used to be made originally.. this sugar however is made from sugar cane

it's not.. tepid or room temp water is actually the best

according to google, and wiki and ...whatever:
"Cold water absorbs more quickly into the body than warmer water, making chilled water preferable for hydration."

Must be where you live, because most of them places have free refills.
But Poles keep their soda on the counter then drink it warm so they must like it that way. But having it on ice tastes better because the carbonation is strong and if it dilutes anything then it's even better for you because you drink more ice and less sugar. Another reason why Americans consume healthier than in Poland

dude, i've been to probably a dozen different Pizza Huts on the east coast, and refills are ALWAYS free. every time.

plk123 wrote:

honestly speaking, i've never eaten at a Taco Bell, and haven't been to McDonald's in over 10 years, but fast food is obviously an exception because you're buying a meal and walking away. we're talking about restaurants where you're served by a waitstaff, not a fast food joint or a hot dog stand.

one tastes better than the other......and the winner iiiiiisss........the American one. I don't drink soda to be healthy, so when I DO drink it, I want the real deal.....the one that tastes good. simples.

yeah, the ones with real sugar are so much better then the ones full of nasty corn syrup.. yuk..

dude, i don't think i have ever been in a pizza hut that had free refills.. ever..

Even Pizza Huts in Poland have free refills! It would seem doubtful that you could have free refills here and not in the States.

The refill question is tricky. I think many people in the States take extreme advantage of it (does anyone truly need to drink 8 pints of Coke in one meal sitting?) but in Europe the 250 mls you get are barely enough to make it through a meal. However, I see nothing wrong with having to pay for another drink, especially as most places here do not have the fountain beverages.

if you go to a friends house they kill you with a hot tea hehehe......

Never been to England then have you.

I fill it with the mixer to the top, the drink will be too weak.

Or its a longer drink, Im not a lover of a glass of ice to a shot of mixer...you just end up with a watery mess that tastes horrid...unless you're expecting people to drink fast?

And the answer is: Because Poland is not the USA or "other country".
Poland is Poland. Any comparison leads to a certain FAIL.

Ha! Brilliant insight. I love it! :) "In USA we had this and we did that..." jeeezzzz!

I live in the States and I don't use ice either because the drinks taste better without it. I also drink hot drinks in the summer. It seems to cool me down for some reason.

Its entirely a personal opinion which is better, in your case you prefer what you are used to.

Obviously you don't drink corn syrup for its health benefits - its probably one of the major factors of American obesity.

actually these are made with real beet sugar instead of the crappy corn syrup.. the throwback pepsi and dew that are sold here right now are made with real sugar like they used to be made originally.. this sugar however is made from sugar cane

Sugar was originally made with Sugar cane, but neither it, Corn or Beet sugar is 'real'

Yet Americans can come out with something as ridiculous as this

Another reason why Americans consume healthier than in Poland

The American diet is un-healthy as is possible, mass processed tasteless crap, loaded with sugar and salt.

and yes, I've been there many times.

There are cans of ravioli or campbells soups in stores which are processed foods but that doesn't mean everyone eats them everyday in order to be unhealthy. There are many other organic and salt, fat-free foods you will find in stores which you can also buy. American quisine is more diverse and healthy than the Polish one in the long run, which includes high cholesterol foods such as kiełbasa, bacon grease, fattening pierogi and some Poles eat a lot of high-fat butter and whole milk. Polish people look very old for their age also because of not only their diet but because they drink and smoke in in excess which gives you more wrinkles.

...Maybe, just maybe, they look older because....and wait for it now...they've had a harder life. They've only had freedom for the last 20 or so years. USA has had it for centuries...- see the difference now.

And it's got nothing to do with smoking or drinking...many younger looking (read: young) people die because of smoking and drinking and drugs. Comparisons like that are laughable.

Any excuse on why Czechs and Slovaks don't look older than they are?

I don't buy that, neither do I buy the story about "older looking" Poles. Some people age faster than others, and unfortunately how quickly you deteriorate is hard-wired into your genes.

The Polish way is the best for your body because if you drink cold water when it is very hot you heart needs to pump much more and one should drink lukewarm beverage or hot drinks when it is very hot ( like people living in the desert).

I know it is really unpleasant but we should avoid drinking very cold or icy drinks when it is 90F.
In the US they have air conditionning EVERYWHERE so no problem!

and a mouth either absent of teeth or full of black rotted ones to boot.

dentistry is a travesty in this country, even with the younger generations.

After reading all those panicking coments about the heat I say:
I live up high MWUAHAHA :D
No huge heat for me!

(Although I am off to Rhodos soon :S)

Also the Ice thing, what do you mean? People use that...
Not that much, but what else is it to use it for other then drinks and fish? :)

Compared to the bland UK cuisine? I never heard of anybody boiling a roast until I went to England. Is it because of dental problems that you have to overcook everything?

and yes, I've been there many times.

Yeah we know Bubba and maybe next time people wont be so nice to you:)

WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE?

Its not just Poland ,,its all of Europe
I had to practically beg and then offer to pay for Ice at Heathrow, Then the snaggletooth suka pulled out a pair of tongs and plopped 1 cube into my glass,,,,oohhhh how refreshing!!

I suppose getting some beer and a cooler filled with ICE then going to the Beach is beyond your comprehension or is beyond you budget?

Boiling a roast?? whats that I've lived in the UK for decades and never had it.

The quality and selection of food in American supermarkets is abysmal compared to the UK, although there are exceptions (trader Joes for example). The appalling health of Americans is largely down to the terrible diet, thats a simple statement of fact.

Uk dental problems ? riiight.. that would be because dentists in the UK allow natural variation instead of fake and ridiculous plastic smiles certain Americans seem to prefer.
