Man! there's a heat wave in poland, is over 90°F and somebody sell ice, if you go to the store things like waters, beers and juices not even cold and if you go to a friends house they kill you with a hot tea hehehe......In USA and other country you dont see that...
WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE?
In USA and other country you dont see that...
And the answer is: Because Poland is not the USA or "other country".
Poland is Poland. Any comparison leads to a certain FAIL.
You are supposed to put them in the fridge ;) ;) Or vodka in the freezer :) They have fridges in shops with chilled beer and drinks :) They use ice, at least my Polish family does :) My wife insists on it, as do her parents. It's just not as widespread as in North America.
In USA and other country you dont see that...
Americans add ice to everything, even hot cocoa...lol
Poles use less ice then Americans...
it's hot right now in PL, people drink lots of water and take ice baths... ;)
The Poles drink a lot of water anyway. I've been drinking a lot of Grappa which tastes icy if that makes sense. It's heavenly stuff!

Here's how it works in the good old US of A.
Order a glass of coke.
Get a glass of ice cubes with spaces filled with a little coke.

I suppose it's because there wouldn't be too much demand for ready-made ice. Large part of people try to save on everything, and making ice at home is dead easy and cheap. You just buy special plastic bags or little moulds, fill it with water and pop them into the freezer and voilá. And some shops have fridges and some not.
I was told that the Poles don,t have the recipe for making it...!
fill it with water
So I inadvertently invented it?
Some older Poles think ice cold is not good for you. The same fear of getting sick as with the 'drafts'. They will not sit in front of the fan no matter how hot it is. Those I can actually understand.
Then there are those that think they are getting ripped off - they think they get more for their money if they order a rum and coke with no ice. Especailly annoying in bars. No, you will not get more alcohol if you ask for no ice. And if I fill it with the mixer to the top, the drink will be too weak. How about enjoying a nice, ice cold drink the way it was meant to be?

people really think that? that's silly...

yes, please...
A/C in my office doesn't work today, it's 100F inside and i'm about to pass out, i think outside is cooler even though it's also a 100F... :(
I prefer to simply keep my drinks in fridge to keep them cold. I dont like to water down my beverage with ice.
Jabłko, funny that you have that name as I was just gonna talk about apple juice :) Some apple juice here needs to be diluted with ice. Otherwise, it's too strong and not refreshing.

how do you drink it if the drinks are in the fridge all the time? take it out to take a sip, or...?
;)
I meant that I keep for example cola bottle in the fridge most of the time. I dont keep filled glasses in fridge haha
Ica can of course be dangerous...look what happened to the Titanic...!
Now there's a point ;) A bit like beans to underpants, right my friend? :) :) How's the heat up there with you anyway, wolf? Ice packs on every part of the body?
pgtx
OMG Go home!
I'd be conducting the rest of my bussiness day out of cafe or a bar with a functional AC.

That surely breaches safety regulations, pgtx. There has to be sufficient ventilation to function, otherwise you can pass out.
Ice packs on every part of the body?
nah...the heat does not bother me....driving back from Szczecin yesterday my friend Magda passed out in the car from the heat , had to pour cold water over her.... i was fine though...
I bet you were ;) ;) Smyngus Dyngus came early ;) :)
My vodka needs ice but it has been in the freezer for a while now. Hmm...I love it REALLY chilled and it isn't quite that.

Yeah she was in the early stages of heat exhaustion....the next stage is heat stroke which is very dangerous...and can kill you....
Oh, for sure. It happened in Paris but also in Scotland some years ago. My wife's car traps the heat sth awful and I should really suck on ice cubes to cool me down. My friend has some kind of coolant device in his car and it's great.

that makes perfect sense - I don't add ice to my juice or milk.
But if you're in a bar and see a wall of liquor, obviously not refridgerated, and if you know anything about soda fountains, those are not refridgerated either, there is no reason to ask for a drink sans the ice, unless you have some weird throat condition.

Air conditioning is the ideal thing....but unfortunatly its the first thing that malfunctions in a Jeep....
would not mind a mini fridge in there....
Absolutely! I have it at work. Without it, I'd wilt. The students moan so I turn it down a notch, then sneakily switch it back and they don't notice.
Some older Poles think ice cold is not good for you.
it's not.. tepid or room temp water is actually the best
and if you know anything about soda fountains, those are not refridgerated either,
but carbonation actually cools the soda.. no need for ice..

Maybe you should stop hanging around idiots who hate Poles.
