Warning! it isn`t another thread about Polish beautiful women/handsome men.
Let`s talk about products.

Food is the dearest to my heart so let me start with it.

I recommend you these pickled noble mushrooms from Rolnik company:

Excellent value for money.

I buy them in Carrefour.

Piece of advice - pick jars with smaller mushrooms.

Did you know that in June 2012 Wyborowa (Select) vodka received a new bottle? I bought one to try it out - delicious!

Totally addictive. Once you buy a box you can't keep any for... later. :-)

Yes, I explained it in the post.

Try this one, made by Solidarność in various containers:

I've never tried them :(

Then you're in for a treat. But make sure you buy the Solidarność brand. There are other plums in chocolate which are cheaper and sugary. Solidarność make by far the best. Not cheap but excellent.

I sometimes treat my colleagues, co-workers, people I meat frequently to some Polish delicacies. That includes "Śliwka w czekoladzie". While most of my choices are met with appreciation the reception of the last item is less than enthusiastic on average. And this is why:

Due to popular perception (in the U.S.) of prunes being used only for relief of constipation, and being the subject of related joking, many of today's distributors have stopped using the word "prune" on packaging labels. Their preference is to state "dried plums".

In this case such perception comes from Ontarians, mostly Torontonians.

Prunes and their juice containmild laxatives including phenolic compounds (mainly as neochlorogenic acids and chlorogenic acids) and sorbitol. Prunes also contain dietary fiber (about 6%, or 0.06 g per gram of prune). Prunes and prune juice are thus common home remedies for constipation. Prunes also have a high antioxidant content.

Well, this thread made me raid a box I got for my birthday in August. I've had five today with no unwanted results (they come later when I get on the scales).

Yes, I explained it in the post.

I'm not attacking you Pawian, I'm trying to help you to understand that produce and product are two different things, that's all.

He as a genuine simpleton is attacking everyone who does not agree with him. You have to be extremely simple to recommend Polish chocolate. Compared to Swiss or Belgian it is simply a loser big time.

I agree 100% but.......they must be the ones in Gold wrapping with blue plums on them, not silver and purple wrappers. Whilst nice, these have more of a plum syrup in them as opposed to whole plums. You can't mess about with something so serious as chocolate:)

I never thought of you attacking me. Where is this crazy idea from? :):):)

I know about produce and product difference.
However, you must understand that my mind rushes like a rocket. I commence things with one idea in mind and in the process of realisation, I switch to another. I started the thread with produce in the title, thinking of food only, but a minute later I decided to widen the perspective onto all products made in Poland.

However, I am absent minded, too, so I clicked to post without correcting the title.

Simple. Are you satisfied? :):):):):)

Thank you for your help, anyway. I appreciate it.

All products means you can also buy a nice train engine, tram or railcar from PESA company.

PESA (Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz) is a train manufacturing company based in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The company is the oldest producer of railway vehicles in Poland. It delivers vehicles to a number of customers in European countries, including Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Italy, Germany,[1] and Poland. The company is the third largest employer in Bydgoszcz.

My main nickname in life is Ginger Pickles.

I looove pickled foods. Polish product I know I grab from Euro deli is Sezme carkers, pickled Chantrelles, pickled fish. The rest is Candies...specially Chocolates. The store I buy from carries Wedel Ptasie Mleczko and I think the plums are the same brand as above. They also carry the neat PB&J bars. I but all manner of pickles cabbage, vegetables as=nd meats. I like the one regional keilbasa that has finer texture... forget the name. However I have them order me Bayerische Leberwurst, Nuernberg Brats and their variety of Fleisch "kindersausage". I like milk sausage too. Course now I live in a cuban and puerto rican food mecca and find few purveyors of good food. *sigh* Mmmm and gingerbread treats..from torun i think? .oh yum!

I loved being in Germany back in 70s with some cousins (technically dad's 3rd? 4th cousins?) as kid. Ah..tables groaning with potato dishes and cremes and sausages and fresh bread.. *Le Sigh*

now I'm hungry..and want to move

I recommended them, not Pawian.
I am not extremely simple, and the chocolates are delicious.
I have never tasted anything like them before.
Granted, not all Polish chocolate is great, but these are.
Bet you've never actually tried them.

One thing about the new trams...for big cities I reckon they have to be big, heavy and hulky-bulky, but if they ALSO produced lighter, down-sized ones they could probably sell them to smaller towns that do not have a tram system or have scrapped it in the past. Anyone know of any more compact and manoeuvrable trams being produced anywhere today?

Guys, another food recommendation.
I have tried various kinds of mayonaise.

But today I stick to one: Winiary. Why? Probably it is a little sweet and immensely sour while all other are too salty and bitter for me.

I am and I can freely admit it because it is another sign of genius. All geniuses in history have been absent minded.

Krakus ham from Animex company. Be careful as there are many imitations, including Western European ones!

I do, actually, as I don`t want it to spread in the forum. Why should other guys know about it? They will envy me and behave stupidly. We don`t need it - there are already too many debils here.

But, I almost forgot to finish the thought.

Did you hear that story about certain professor inventor who boiled his watch instead of an egg? One day I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that I almost did the same act.

Almost, because I was going to boil two eggs at a time and I put a watch and a clock into the water instead!!! Can you believe it???

A good ham for sure but it's quality has lapsed, I'm afraid, since the PRL-days (at least the ham sold here in New Jerssey).

Why should I buy some preserved ham (of any make whatsoever) rather than some freshly smoked one? With a bit of fat (z tłuszczykiem) or without? No vote for me for Krakus Ham - unless planning to stay six months in the North West Passage, surrounded by ice. :-)
