chata polska sells it, but it's quite expensive for what it is.

There really is no substitute for Philadelphia cream cheese ;)
Even the substitutes made in the United States, lack the taste and consistency of genuine Philadelphia cream cheese.
you can definitely get it here. but it comes in a small pack and it is priced high. there are some good substitutes- I think Pianica (I think that is the name??) is a really good one.

100 meters from my flat in Gdansk is Hala Targowa. I can buy Philadelphia cream cheese exactly like what I bought in the US at a reasonable price. On toasted bread-bagels are hard to find-with salmon and onions, it makes a good Sunday morning breakfast.
quark is for sernik, for US style cheesecake you want something like this:

look at the ingredients on the back, compare philly cream cheese to what ever is right beside it and make your call. I made a cheese cake last week or so and went with the philly brand (1 pln more than the stuff beside it). I spent about 24pln on just the cream cheese.
Ser Smietankowy (or something spelled like that).
