Quite ironic but kaczka in Russian is "utka" and we also cook it with "jabloki". So if I put "p" in front of Russian "duck", I could have post pictures of our pres with apples. :)

I need to cook some Polish food soon and get some new pictures in here. Been doing a lot of cooking but not Polish.

A friend of mine was telling me tonight about nalesniki. I had never heard of it until he explained it. Anyone have any pictures of that?

OK Here goes with the kopytka. Can't say it is as good as Babcia's, but it passed the "Won't Make You Vomit" Test:

  • Mash the Potatoes

  • Rice them - Warm first

  • Add Potato Flour and some regular flour

  • Add an Egg Too.

Depends on how much you didn't eat from the night before! :-)

It comes down to texture, and how much potato is left over.

The texture is somewhere between Goo, and Crumbly. As if that helps, huh?

Yes the pictures are great but I could do with a written recipe with measurements in it, not that I really like following a recipe but when I make something the first time it's always handy... :)

I put two links up and they both use similar amounts apart from the salt !

My Mom never weighed anything and most Polish people just instinctively know how much to add. I learnt by watching my Mom lot when I was little.

I only use recipes when starting off something new. After the first time I don't bother with them. Same with weighing, first time weigh, after that don't bother. ;)

I am the same, except when making pastry dishes as it really does need to be exact in that case.

As for meat, fish and veg...I just keep tasting until it tastes right.
