You'll need oil for frying. Those ingredients make for 6 potato cakes. :)

Actually, you're right in a way, I broke my grater tonight making them so must buy a new one! ;)

;) I think the grater came off worse than I did. It's in a couple of bits now... ;)

PD has been cooking again. :) This time placki ziemniaczane. :) They were delicious (even if I do say so myself ;) It's probably not traditional ingrediants but close enough. :)

these look more like hashbrowns then placki ziemniaczane though. placki are made from finely ground potatoes while the other is made of shredded (larger) pieces.

grated on the smallest holes. but it they do look good PD. it wasn't meant as a slam; just an observation.

I've seen them made with the potato grated either through the small holes and the large holes. It's irrelevant now anyway...since my grater broke I only have the bit with the big holes. So until I buy a new one everything gets grated that way. ;)

I made gołąbki today but I won't be posting a picture. I used a savoy cabbage today for a change and it worked out OK, they didn't wrap as well as with white cabbage leaves but with a bit of persuasion they stayed wrapped and were tasty! :)

Lol, apologies to my students. ;) There is a reasonable excuse, I bought a new camera today (to get even better pictures!) but the rechargable battery was needing charged. Next time I'll take loads... ;)

I hope this class picks up next week again, with or without a new grater :)

Maybe next week, maybe in 2 weeks. Not sure. If there's anything next week it won't be something difficult.

While we're at it (and you're giving me a hard time ;) where's the pictures of all the delicious dishes you've cooked? ;)

Well although I have sampled many polish dishes, I am ashamed to say I've never cooked any. I have helped grate potatoes for the dish you made last week, so I know my way around a grater:(

However I have been shown in great detail how to make kotlet schabowy, and I might surprise you one week with photos on here:)

Well, begin! I had only tasted Polish food, never cooked it until recently. Daunting task to cook gołąbki for the first time and as you see by the first pictures I posted, they were OK but not great. It just takes time.

Seems you're gentler with a grater than me anyway. :)

I look forward to your pictures of kotlet schabowy. :)

There are some pierogi on pages 2 & 3 of this thread. They are mixed in with other foodstuff.

You might also find pictures on other food threads.

Just write pierogi in the searchbox. I'm sure you'll find what you want.

Hey guys ...for Christmas I made my first batch of Kapusta. My mom said is was very good and asked for seconds (LOL) Now I have to move on to something new for my second dish to make that is Polish. I found a great blog in my quest for some recipe guidance in preparing Google up Baking with Dynamite and look for Adam. He has some good recipes for Polish foods. (chiropractor and bodybuilder)

I found that gołąbki is not that difficult to make, it is just time consuming. Also placki ziemniaczane is pretty easy to make and many kinds of kotlet. :) Keep up the cooking. :)

I made kapuśniak soup today. Smoked sausage and bacon based. I thought I bite my tongue off chowing on it. :) mmm...so good.
I love soups and stews on cold winter days! Krupnik is on my list tomorrow.
Bonus. Both soups will make wonderful leftovers for my lunches.

No more food for me today, but I might snap a picture as I warm up a bowl of soup tomorrow! And, a plate of cheese pierogi to boot. Naah, did not make them, too much work. Complements of polish deli. :)
