Pancakes with cottage cheese?

I am wondering, is pancakes with cottage cheese a Polish thing or is this popular all across Europe?

In America, most people would probably find the thought of that quite distasteful.

Likewise, most Europeans are disgusted at the thought of such dishes like "pancakes and maple syrup" or "biscuits and gravy" for breakfast.

^I like pancakes with cottage cheese but I don't think too many other Americans would man up and try them.

Are these fried pancakes served with a topping of cottage cheese or does it go into the batter? There are Polish pancakes (racuchy) to which a slice of pressed farmer cheese is added while frying. They are quite nice served with jam or just sprinkled with caster sugar.

I meant as a topping with sugar added to it.

But Canada makes the worlds greatest maple syrup.

I'm wondering if you talk about crepes with sweet cottage cheese filling (which people like to eat for lunch or dinner), or American style pancakes that are prepared with cottage cheese to reduce the carb content. If you talk about the latter, I think they are only eaten by people on high protein diets (both in America and in Poland). They are quite nasty, if you ask me.

International House of Pancakes (IHOP) makes some with a blend of cottage cheese. They're more like a blintz :)

I thought tea with milk in Poland is called Bawarka. Either way is good with me. I am pretty open that way.

I take it Polish lawyers aren't as bright as American lawyers. I guess that would make sense considering law schools in Poland are no where near as demanding.

A crepe is a type of pancake. Make sure you know what you're talking about next time you feel like critiquing me and accusing me of being a troll.

My family in Poland eats crepes with cottage cheese. Delicious!!!

no. they are the same. just some people might like them a little thicker.

crepes may be cooked on a hot plate. pancakes are done in a frying pan.

american pancakes are different

In the United States crepes are usually thinner and filled with fresh fruit or compote.


Southern-style flap jacks are thicker than pancakes or hotcakes.

Crepe batter has more liquid and. Less flour. Pancake batter is thicker and has baking powder so the pancakes rise slightly while cooking in a skillet or on a griddle.

Polish cheese pancakes (rauchy z serem) were made by my babcia. You pour the batter in small pancake portions into the hot butter or oil in frying pan, and when the bottom has cooked somewhat a slice of pressed (well-drained) farmer cheese (twaróg) is placed on top and gently pressed in. A bit more batter of added to cover the cheese. When top batter has set, you flip over and fry the other side to a golden brown. Serve hot dusted with caster sugar.

The addition of cheese enhanced the nutritional value of the racuchy. A typical dish for Friday and the fastdays of Lent and Advent.
Also very good are racuchy z jabłkami. Instead of cheese, a few thin slices of apple can be placed on top of the pancakes or addded to the batter.
