Nalewki, anyone?

Was a time not long ago when nearly every man of the house in Poland prided himself in his home-made nalewka (alcoholic cordial). They can be made with most any fruit or even green walnuts. Anyone on PF make their own? Basically a jug of any washed, dried, pitted fruit (sometiems a few stones are included for added flavour!) is simpyl drenched with 50% grain neutral alcohol and 50% vodka, sealed and allowed to standa few weeks or several months (shaking occasionally), then filtered through cheese-cloth or cotton wool in a funnel into bottles. Then too it should be aged additioanlly in a coll, dark cellar.

Anyone (who can afford it) can serve guests Johnny Walker Black or Four Star Courvoisier, but isn't there's a special sense of staisfaction in being able to say it's home-made or it's the house speciality?

No, but my mom did from aronia (chokeberries?) or something like that.
And I bought my dad "Wielka księga nalewek" with recipes as a birthday present so maybe we'll try making some :)

- I learned to make a thing called krupnik. The name is the same as a soup, but this liquir is made of honey, some orange skin, bit o vanilla (real one, not just aromas) and other secret ingredients;). It is perfection now, I actually can brag about it. I mature it at least a month, but my record is 14 months.

Do not mistake it for some lousy miodowka (honey vodka).

isn't there's a special sense of staisfaction in being able to say it's home-made or it's the house speciality?

- Oh yes, there is! There's nothing more pleasant than serving your own product, provided that it is good quality;)

Related: Apple Pie Shotz Recipe REQUEST

I am looking for a recipe for a polish style drink... I know that it's made with Spirytus, Apple Juice, Cinnamon and Sugar, and that it's served in shot glasses and goes by the name of [b][b]Apple Pie Shotz. I have the ingredients but wonder if anyone out there knows how much of each ingredient and if it needs to sit for a while after it's made. My husband makes mioduwka, so I kinda know how it goes, but thought to reach out for help. Dziekuje, Lusia.

Google "nalewka z jablek". Using apple juice is a shortcut. Use real apples or quince fruit if available.
