Without a doubt the word "Kielbasa" has worldwide recognition yet it is just one of many wonderful meat products that have been produced for centuries in Poland. It is also often misunderstood. Kielbasa is the Polish general name for "a sausage". You can not walk into a Polish store and say: "please give me a pound of kielbasa". The sales lady surrounded by 50 different kinds of kielbasa will inevitably reply: "yes, but which one"? It is like going into a deli and asking for some cheese. Sure, but which one: American, Provolone, Swiss, Gorgonzola, Gouda, Muenster - you have to provide some details.

As the most popular Polish sausage is without a doubt Polish Smoked Sausage, (Polska Kielbasa Wędzona) we are willing to speculate that this is what people have in mind. This is probably what the first immigrants brought with them to America. The little problem we face here is that you can find Polish Sausage in almost every supermarket in the USA and no two are made the same way. The Polish Smoked Sausage has been well defined for centuries and almost everybody in Poland knows what goes inside.

No, it's not, it's the opposite of interesting. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it's quite boring. If internet articles about Polish sausages could be colour-coded I'd give your's a grey. Red would be the best of course, but yea, this one is pretty bad. Grey, or if you'd like to use the system Polish schools use, 1/5.

Why does Polish schools only mark out of 5, it's pretty stupid. Why not out of 100% or use the A-D grading system?

It's 1 to 6 actually. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. Why would the A - D system be any better?

6 is a stupid number, it won't go into 10 or 100 so you can't get a percentage. Stupid system.

Because most other people use it. But oh no! Poland has to be different as usual, can't go with the flow (^_^)
That's me joking btw, don't take offence, coz I know most of the people on this forum missed the class called 'sarcasm'

A 85-100% Excellent
B 70-84% Very Good
C 55- 69% Good
D 40-54% Pass
E 25-39%, Fail
F <24% Fail

Far easier for all involved than this 1 to 6 nonsense.

ok, so if I ask a kid what they got in a maths exam and they say 5...I'm like, wtf does that mean, you got 5 questions right, you got 5 questions, how many questions were there etc? Ya get me?

With % then you know how smart or dumb your kid is.

Me: Yo, Johnny, how was your economic philosophy exam?
Johnny: Daddy, it got 30%
Me: You're a dumb kid Johnny, down the coalmine you go.

Ah, i only live with me missus so I usually just buy a pack of krupniok or kielbasa every now and then, sometimes just the one big sausage from one the local butchers, tend to stay away from the likes of Tesco and that, although the Lidl ones are quite good, especially the biała kielbasa

Couldn't tell ya, don't have a clue how big a yard is. Closest Lidl is about 1.5km away. But if I'm feelin posh I might even go to Alma :P

Are kabonos sausages any good? My local butchers has some on special. And how would one cook them? I normally sear sausages on a pan, so they get browned up. Then whack them under the grill on a low heat with the juices from the pan poured over.

Would this work for kabonos are is there a better way?

what is a pollish type of blood sausage..is it tastier than german types? are polish suasages more...or ..less spicy than german counterparts?
