Polish Eating Habits

Drinking Screwdrivers, vodka and orange. Pan Tadeusz from Zielona Góra is quite sth. It is one of those drinks that keeps its English name, not Śrubokręt or however it is in Polish. Not like Sex on the Beach which is sometimes changed to Sex na plaże.

Polish people, for all their meat eating, especially here in Silesia where people love rolada and kotlety, are not obese. They find ways of working off the calories, I think I know how, LOL

See, just like the French - this really puzzles me.

I eat a really healthy diet (lots of fresh fruit and veg, grilled fish and whole grains) and work out every day - but if I take my eye off the ball (any more than 2 boozy nights out in a week and skipping a couple of workouts) for about a week, the weight just piles on :(

A lot of it is hereditary...something you can't really help.

Drinking Screwdrivers

V. interesting... I was at a party at a gay club last week - all the buff young boys were drinking this. And then there was me looking all ladylike with my pint LOL!!

I know how it feels. Discipline is hard to maintain. Just blame it on a bad metabolism. My sister cracked me up when she said that her weight gain program was going swimmingly well. I come from a food loving family but I drew the shortest straw, hehehe. Nah, I'm not fat really but over 100kg's. Big-boned with relaxed muscle is how I prefer to view myself.

Aren't there pills or some kind of procedure that can speed up a person's metabilism? I heard somewhere that there was a way to do it???

Hmm...

I think there is but that's not my field. These health care shops have all manner of supplements to aid metabolism and common ailments too

I never really understood people who go on diets. I know plenty of girls who are in amazing shape, and have been for some while, who all of the sudden want to diet and excercise. While there's nothing wrong with that....I just never understood it because a good part of my childhood I spent my time wondering why I couldn't gain weight no matter how much I ate. Then I hit the gym and started eating 30 times a day... :]

You can boost your metabolism by eating small meals more frequently.

When I'm on form, I'll do x2 45 min work outs a day, so that my metabolism gets to peak twice. Jeeeez I sound like a body builder, don't I? LOL!!!!

Probably best to stay away from the pills, as they'll probably just contain caffein or mild amphetamines - even the ones in the healthfood stores

Or you can come home from 9 hours at the office and work on my farm until dinner and then after dinner work another two hours . That should do it!

A class I did last Friday showed me a difference. Scots may well eat soups in the morning whereas Poles tend to have them for lunch. I asked a student after a food lesson if he was off to have some sour rye soup (żurek). He told me that it was too early. He said this was customary in Poland. In Scotland, a warm soup is the perfect way to start the day.

Girl, I know what you mean! I eat so much Polish food, and I'm not used to eating so much chleb!

Knock on wood, right now I'm fine but it'll probably catch up to me sooner if not later!

Aren't there pills or some kind of procedure that can speed up a person's metabilism?

There are pills for that. For example ECA (containing ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin). But it's better to just use your body to burn excess energy (calories).

A natural way to increase the basic metabolic rate is to gain more muscles. People with a large total muscular mass burn more energy (more calories) even when they are at rest.

This is interesting physiology, I have it on my exam in 2 weeks.

Pole in Poland who is overweight and eats too much. I imagine it is something that is becoming more common.

Yes it's becoming more common. More fast food and more driving instead of walking. Like USA and WE.

It's not the driving instead of walking as much as it's the fast food. We are better off with apples and spinach leafs instead of french fries and ice cream cones.
