Hi Everyone, My grandmother was Polish and she use to make a cookie for her family that was either wrapped in cheesecloth and dropped in to a bowl of ice water for awhile then rolled out and cut and filled with pineapple or apricot perserves. Does this sound familiar to anyone the recipe was lost with my grandmother's passing would love to give it to my mother. Thank you
Hi Everyone; My Busia used to make these trianagle pastries filled with applesauce when we were kids. They were topped with a pink icing. The recipe cannot be found. Any help would be apprciated.
Polishgirl, here's a bunch of my family's Polish Christmas cookie recipes. I wish I had one for the cheesecloth one someone mentioned. Try the pierniczki (spice cookies) if you want gingerbread flavor.

I am looking for a polish cookie recipe that are nut cups from how my fiance is describing them Little cups filled with almond paste and pecans I think. Does anyone know what these would be called or have a recipe for them. If so could you e-mail me at bjkrah@att.net. His mother passed away a couple of years ago and I would love to surprise him with these for Christmas.

I noticed you people posted pictures of foods, cakes & sausages?
You are making me hungry for Polish foods. Please put your receipes too. So I don't have to run for Polish Restaurants or Bakeries in Chicago. Like people saids, Polish people are leaving America????????
i tried these cookies lately and it's heaven! i love them and maybe you'll try them also...
here it goes:
3 cups flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 tablespoon baking soda 1 tablespoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon salt 3 sticks butter at room temperature 1 1/2 cups white sugar 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar 3 eggs 1 tablespoon vanilla 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips 3 cups old fashioned rolled oats 2 cups sweetened flake coconut 2 cups chopped pecans (8 ounces)
Preheat oven to 350° Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a bowl. In 8 quart bowl, beat butter until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute. Gradually beat in sugars and continue beating to combine, about 2 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each. Beat in vanilla. Stir in flour mixture until just combined. Add chocolate chips, oats, coconut and pecans. For each cookie, drop a 1/4 cup of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing 3 inches apart. (I don't use a 1/4 cup-more like a tablespoon) Bake 15 - 17 minutes, until edges are lightly brown. Remove from rack to cool. Makes 3 dozen large cookies.
