Both are often translated into English as bacon.Does English have some differentiation like back bacon or something? I know bekon is meatier and boczek more fatty.

Its' like comparing apples to oranges.there is a big difference in the cut of meat for bacon and back bacon.Bacon is very fatty and back bacon is mostly meat.

It's what we call "bardzo smaczne" boczek in Polish.I have now bought myself a smoker and have made my own smoked bacon.very delicious!!!!!
in english it's pancetta
in Italian, actually...
also and it's where it came from to TESCO, Sainsburys :-) same as pierogi=ravioli

Boczek Wędzony
OK, so I have some questions about Boczek. Ive had lots of Boczek before but I just bought some "boczek wędzony" from a Polish shop in London, it looks quite raw, a bit like UK bacon. Am I meant to fry it or eat as it is? Seems difficult to cut and a bit chewy...
It looks like this, much more wet and transparent than fully cooked Boczek...

Yes, smoked boczek is like raw. I must say I would never eat it like that, it requires frying but then it can be a bit tough. People mostly boil it to get a tasty broth base for soup.
That is why I always buy preboiled one which you can slice and put into a sandwich immediately.

I would eat it raw but it is better fried or ideally boiled.
With plenty of mustard, ogorki and good bread that is buttered.

I just diced it and fried it in a pan, it was nice, better tasting and less chewy than raw, very close to UK smoked bacon style. The rind/skin was too tough to eat.
The skin always goes into the bin, even my cats don`t want it.

No, Milo, you don`t know what we are talking about. We mean the bottom part of boczek which is the toughest skin. You would need the jaws of Jaws to bite through it. It remains tough even if you boil it 24 hours.

That`s good you have jaws like a shark, but believe me, saying that you don`t know what we are talking about was meant to save you from disgrace of sounding ridiculous coz that rind/outer skin of boczek piece is really inedible , like a sole of a shoe, and eating it is a big sacrifice. Are you so starved you need to bite through it so mercilessly, can`t you find better food in the UK? :):)
I hardly ever eat boczek but isn't the bottom part actually the skin? So it's like eating leather. ...

Not when boiled.A bit tough I'll admit.
But I am a bit weird, I have been known to eat French suacisson sec and salami whole,without removing the skin
and some cheeses whole that some people remove the skin first.......... :-)
Which reminds me, in Alsace in France they do speck, which I assume is similar to German speck.
This is similar to Polish boczek but that skin is truly inedible... it would break your teeth.
I see. OK, as I eat strange things myself, then I mustn`t view your boczek skin as odd. :):)
