I don't know when this new feature was introduced but noticed today that the reply box takes up a certain amount of space on the screen unlike before. When I scroll up to read and reply to posts, it doesn't disappear. I gave up on writing anything further on my last post, as by the time I had pressed send, I could only see one line at a time of previous posts. This means it will be impossible to reply to long posts, as eventually I won't be able to see anything people have written as the reply box with my message in it dominates the screen completely.
Is this feature to stop lengthy replies, or am I the only person having this problem? If it's a new feature, it's crap I'm afraid.
I was just experimenting with that and had finally worked it out! Thanks for the reply, but what is the purpose of it? I can't see what 'improvement' it is making, I have to click on it after every quote I reply to, just seems to be a pain more than anything else.
The purpose is convenience and better usability. Few people read quotes anyway, still you don't have to click on it every time unless you quotes a dozen of people (which we don't recommend doing).
Not keen on it at all Admin, it doesn't work well on laptops and dominates the screen. Maybe you could make it a setting that can be controlled through the control panel instead?
I'm confused - when you type, you have to look at the other posts? What if a topic has 10 paginated pages - you open them to read the posts again to reply? It doesn't work this way for the majority of people; when they type a message, they type a message. Still, with this setting, you can more easily type and read messages above while you scroll, if needed.
Well...I just don't like it :) I go back quite a lot to look at what people are saying if it's about something lengthy, and...ah, come on, I just don't like it :) I'm sure it looks great on a 19-21" monitor, but it just looks terrible on a normal laptop screen.
Looks much better without the diacritical marks though, and the blue x is nice.
