The image of Poland according to PolishForums

A lot of them are not even Polish...they are descendants of Poles. And these people and the Polish expats are ironically more obnoxious and stereotypical than the actual Polish people living in Poland.

Well I pretty much told you I am a Polish American when I said I see things from the Polish American standpoint.

Dude you're not even of Polish ancestry that's why you have no problem knocking all things Polish.

You are an American. If you were born in Poland and became an American then you could call yourself Polish-American. But you are American.

Hyphenating your nationality to try and sound different or unique is lame.

You have never been to Poland and know nothing of life there. I doubt you speak the language. You are perpetuating the stereotypes people have of Poles in general with your nonsense. My advise to you is to shut up before you make it even worse. Wait until you grow up and actually have some experience regarding issues before you speak.

For someone like you who thinks he's such an expert on "stereotypes about Poles" can you explain to me how people in the US who

-never lived in Poland
-never met Polish people
-didn't know people who knew Polish people

Had the stereotype in their mind that you love to push, that Poles have subhuman intelligence?

How did they get that stereotype in their mind if they had NO connection to Polish people at all?

Just because my experience with Poles matches up often with the stereotypes it doesnt mean I am wrong. You just don't like it because you are obsessed with a culture you have no direct tie to. You remind me of kids in school in the states who said they were "Italian" because of their surname. Give me a break....

It's crap like this that really gets on my nerves, this is PF, you are only allowed to say bad things about Poland, then and only then will you be speaking the truth. (it helps of course if you are not here).


Unfortunately I came here before I ever seen this site, it warns people of the dangers of living here.
I hadn't even been aware of all of these things, thank goodness now I am posting this from the safety of underneath my bed, with the obligatory tinfoil hat and crash helmet, in full body armour.


Well i thought Poland was a great country before I found PF but now I have learned from PF that Polish people are very sly, so the great years I had before I joined PF were obviously just to trick me and now, thanks to PF I see the scum sucking Poles for what they really are.


What's pointless about talking about everything none Polish related to a bunch of people who know next to nothing about Poland but can tell me all about it???

I could discuss Muslims in England, Pakistanis in Greece, the daily mail and what tarts Polish women are all year. in fact I have!


Friendly if you bash Poland.
Neutral if they don't care.
Hostile if you disagree with anyone bashing Poland. (but come on, fair is fair).

i think one can but one definitely ought to read many, many threads as there is also quite a bit of rubbish spouted here


if one doesn't look through a bunch of threads, i'd say one isn't going to get a very peachy image, not at all.


if one looks through many of the pictures of PL threads, i'd have to say that one would really want to visit PL

at first look, i guarantee it must seem as hostile but like i said above, if one reads many of the threads here, i think one may see it as somewhat neutral.

Hostile if you speak about the actual economic situation of the country.
The vast majority of people on this forum are not Polish they are British(a lot of them own properties and a are aggressive developers) . So its far from factual.

We all bunch of freinds here... ok there are some groups of friends who hang out around PF together.

Being seriouse sometimes friendly sometimes hostile, depends on man.

It seems like a lot of people compare the situation here to their home country which isn't relevant for say a Turk, Indian, or Brazilian coming to Poland.

It is a true forum since I write here.

I think so, at least you can find the good and bad things about Poland via some members. The history threads can be a bit misleading though.


I think the forum here isn't to create any image of Poland, but rather discuss what is happening in Poland and around via the views of it's members.


I found it after I moved to Poland, I will return to settle in Poland for good at some stage :/


Pretty much the same. A lot of thread are bombarded with posts that have no relevance to the way of life in Poland what-so-ever. But you can spot them a mile away.

Sometimes it can be a bit hostile to newcomers, but once they push through that wall everyone is generally accepted.

Poland is not lost, in fact things are improving here across the board but say that on here and you get accused of heresy.

Right. But the EU is an ongoing process. EU membership doesn't automatically mean that wages will be instantly equalized. That doesn't make any sense. In 50 years, we might get closer to income equality, but it's a slow process. Take Portugal, average monthly wage is a bit under €900/mo. Prices are about the same as in Poland. Housing is more expensive.

Growth is happening as it should, and at a fairly fast rate. Real salaries have risen dramatically over the last 10 years, which can't be said for most high income economies. You can see it here on the ground as well as in the statistics. Average monthly wages in Poland in 2004 was 2200pln, in 5 years, that has increased to over 3200pln in Q4/09, and has been accelerating in recent years. That makes for between 5-10% year on year growth for the last 5 years. That seems like a good way forward to me.

Are the salaries on par with Ireland, of course not. Will they be anytime soon? Probably not. Are they growing? Absolutely.

On a side note, there are plenty of houses available all over the country for under €50000. Also good to take into account regarding housing, growth obviously plays a role in pricing.

florida is freaking hot, man.. and super humid.. there are cheaper and better places then florida.. but if you have to be near water.. then yeah, may be the place to be..

If u consider language, food, party, jobs etc, as a real picture, then yes.

Does it create good or bad image of Poland and polish people?

Don't have a clue since those like me "from the outside" are a little dominating, but sharing somehow interests/opinions.

Did it encourage you to visit / to live in Poland or did you change your mind?

I was in Poland in the middle of the 90's almost every week in Poland professionally and I liked it there. Of course I had my favorite places there ;-)

How the experiences shared here corresponds with yours?

For me this looks more like an EU/USA forum rather than a PF regarding the opinions promoted here.

Depends. In case minorities are in the in "line of fire" all the radicals/fascists come out of the holes and give their best, including personal attacks. That should be better under the eye of admin. Hate and fascism is here in my perspective "en mode".

It sounds like a real Hell Hole from what gets written on this forum.
