The image of Poland according to PolishForums

What am I suggesting is a thread where people could discuss about Polish Forums itself.

An area for people to discuss an area where people discuss? A bit too post modern maybe.

I've never been poland and still waiting for work permit to move there.

I am trying to learn as much as I can from Polishforums, the site is really helpfull on the other hand there are many racist posts which makes me worried.

Anyway on the internet people are tend to show their bad sides as it is a virtual environment so I am still hopeful about Poland. It should be better than the image Polishforums has left on me.

The image is mixed but it tends to attract a lot of negative comentary. One wonders if Torq was right about it being a great nation ;) ;)

It should be better than the image Polishforums has left on me.

After living in Poland 8 months ). Unfortunately polishforums gives a negative image than what Poland really is. There are many pointless discussions and so much negative thinking.

people are tend to show their bad sides

This is confirmed once more.

I don't speak for Polish forums, TIT. People can speak for themselves and it's for you to glean the image.

This forum is pretty negative about Poland. Sorry, but that's how I see it. There are only a handful of native Polish people on here, compared to the numbers of foreigners who post here. I think most members here are from the UK and the US.

I don't speak for Polish forums, TIT. People can speak for themselves and it's for you to glean the image.

Sensible as always.

Thanks as ever, Arien :)

... Tusk tries to raise his profile by using English. He did well but it's strange to see KaczyƄski laughing. He'd make a hash of it, of that you can be sure. Hats off to Tusk for trying.

there are few groups of users:

1) poles from poland
am I missing smth?

Yes

There is another group of people that come on this Polish forums site.

Non-Polish people who like insulting and degrading Polish people.

This Polish forum site is kind of like Poland hundreds of years ago when Poland in its high mindedness allowed just about everyone into Poland including those who used and abused Poland.

When you spam a forum with 'outrage' posts expect to get messed with. If you could step outside yourself and read your posts you would be embarrassed. They sound like a lunatic who is drunk and raging online.
MediaWatch  10 | 942

Outrage posts??? Me??

Really??

All I did was answer the questions from some other Poles as to where subhuman intelligence jokes about Poles came from.

So you think your messing with me by telling me these so called Polish Jokes?

Very interesting.

Indeed you were messing with me and other Poles by saying these Polish Jokes.

But I want to commend you in your honesty in that YES the purpose of Polish Jokes were to "mess with" and insult Polish people. So so much for this nonsense about "nothing is meant by them" blah blab blah. Everything is meant by them. That's why you said them.

And WHY do you take such personal offense at my pointing out the origin of Polish jokes? Its obvious you don't like Polish people, so wouldn't you want a Polish person sounding as you say "drunk" a "lunatic" "raging". Those are all negative descriptions. Aren't those the ones you want to characterize Poles as having?

I've read quite a few of your posts and they're all put downs of Polish people. If you think I make Polish people look bad, I would think you would want a Pole like me to "rage on"

I would think you would want a Pole like me to "rage on"

That makes no sense. Why would I want to see your rants? Your reaction above proves my points about Polish people in general..you have overreacted and been ridiculously sensitive. You play the victim card at every turn. YOU are the exact kind of person that perpetuates this stereotype you hate. Well done.

You say: I'm overreacting? I'm ridiculously sensitive? Like Poles are always "overreacting" and are "ridiculously sensitive" according to you? LOL!!!

WHERE???????

Where do you read in the newspapers that Poles are "always overreacting" and "ridiculously sensitive"??

Every day I read American newspapers and I'm always reading about certain ethnic groups day after day week after week complaining about what they feel is prejudice and ethnic slurs against them. There are groups that go on and on and on and on about prejudice against them thier victimhood and believe me THEY ARE NOT POLISH.

The problem is the Poles have underreacted for far too long to Polish-Bashing.

If you can show me newspaper stories of Polish people "overreacting" "being overly sensitive" etc. Please show me by all means. I just don't believe it.

And don't blame me for all your condescending comments about Polish people before when I was nowhere around.

I formed my opinion about Polish culture by actually living IN Poland for a very long time. I am not sure what you are on about with the newspaper quote but the media seems to be your primary source of information rather than real life experience. Have you even lived in Poland or do I as an American have more experience in the place than you?

Maybe you are confused as to who "Poles" are. I am finding out that expat Poles and people with Polish background are even worse than those IN Poland. They seem to be compensating or something.

No I never lived in Poland. My viewpoint here has been from the Polonia-Polish American viewpoint.

My focus has been with the Hollywood TV media relationship with Polish-Americans.

And with all due respect, not that this is you, but there are quite a few people that go to Poland, and even have lived in Poland but only look to find fault with it.

I have heard about people that talk about the ills of Poland, they go there and sure enough they come back talking about the ills of Poland.

I have heard from some people I know, like an Asian American college student I know, who said he was wondering what Poland was like for better or for worse, and that he wouldn't sugarcoat his experience there to me even though we're friends and when he came back, he said overall he had one of the best times in his life there in addition to other European countries he visited.

No I never lived in Poland.

Then you have become irrelevant to me. You have never lived there and no nothing about it first hand. You know not of what you speak. Ciao Raging Man.

It means what your last post confirms. You don't even know what being Polish IS. You haven't even BEEN there let alone lived there. Your opinion has nothing holding it up. You could have just told us all from the beginning that you had ZERO experience. I am an American and I know more about Poland and Polish people than you do so I am pretty sure my assessment of them is more accurate and based in fact than yours which is based in...well.....nothing.

But I know more then you about being a Polish American and the relationship between the Hollywood TV media and Polish Americans/Poland.

Ooh gold star for you. Who cares?

You were ranting about POLISH people not angsty teens with Polish ancestors who want to **** and moan online. You were misleading and trying to pretend you knew what you were talking about. You are clearly some kid who is bored and angry.

I feel like I just found out I was arguing about particle physics with someone and found out they were a 10yo with Down's Syndrome. What a letdown.

That's not what I meant.

What did you mean by Polish Americans are "WORSE THAN" Poles in Poland or are "compensating for something"?

Once again there you go always using negative innuendo against the Polish people.

Frankly I doubt you lived in Poland for any great length of time.

You probably went there for a few weeks or so with a negative disposition to begin with and that's why you're always knocking Poland. You were just looking to find fault with Poland.

Just looking at how you write about Poland, WHY in Gods name would a guy like YOU live there???

Frankly I doubt you lived in Poland for any great length of time.

I really don't care what you believe. And did you ever think that maybe the reason I think the way I do is BECAUSE I lived there?

Anyway we are done here...you have been a real let down.

Ooh gold star for you. Who cares?

Yeah you're just so brilliant.

If you look back at my first post where you responded and started to "mess with me" as you would put it, it was a relatively short and mild post about the relationship of Hollywood-NBC-TV with the Polish people. Why on earth would that bother you so much? Where was the "ranting" there? Was I cursing or something?

Ok I said I was done but I can't resist. You are not even Polish dude...give it up. At best you are an American born to Polish parents and maybe not even that. You are more obsesessed with this than ACTUAL Polish people.

Personally the only place that I got to know about poland explictly is through this site.
I as a foreigner ,I have noticed that there is more good than bad about poland and that most of the polish people who comment on this site live largly in US ,Canada and Britain.

I can tell by their English and not many polish people know how to speak clear English.
