Any chance of a sports category on PF

As I would like to share my experiences at football games in Poland, it would be nice to have a Sports category on this forum.

There is a category "Events" but anyone who enjoys a good football game with Kielbasa, Piwo and some small talk with the person next to you while the game is on, knows that "Event" would not be the right word.

Is there a possibility of having a "Sports" category added?

If we are talking about piłka nożna it's going to be a challenge for mods to keep it civil. :) Any of You, foreigners, interrested in Speedway? Being in Poland is the best occasion to see the very best riders in the world. :D

Sports would be good. I can see arguments about soccer for sure but without me cause I don't like the game at all and don't care who wins. Hopefully there would be more than this one game to talk about.

Aren't most discussions about Polish sports revolved around hooligans? If there's some important Poland-related sports news (let's say about Agnieszka Radwanska winning a Grand Slam, Fonfara or Szpilka winning a boxing championship, Poland going to Euro semi/finals, Kubica going to Ferrari, Majka winning the Tour the France, Boniek going to play for Barcelona, etc.) it can be discussed in the News sections. We also have the UEFA prediction game in the Off-topic.

(for careful readers: one of the above examples is completely unlikely to happen ;)

Yes, I have been to the last "game" of Orzel Lodz against Rzeszow last season which was fairly exciting so i have decided to visit a few more this season. Next will be Orzel vs. Lokomotiv Daugavpils.

Aren't most discussions about Polish sports revolved around hooligans?

I don't think so. There are plenty of sports in Poland that don't involve hooligans but good atmosphere. Take Volleyball or Speedway as an example.

I would have liked to share my groundhopping stories here. They could not be classed as "news" and I would prefer not to see them in the "Event" section.

Also, there have been questions from others about Stadia, how to get there, where to go before the game and how to buy tickets, from other people on here. A sports secition could be a good addition to the forum in my opinion.

I am not sure @ Admin. Was this a yes or a no?

I would also like to post my impressions from the Europa League final but again I would prefer not to call a football game an "event" . Any chance of a sports category?

Self explainatory one would think.

Seeing that you will never witness a football game in Europe, you hardly the right person to answer.

I understand that in the U.S. you look at things like American Football, Baseball and all your other ridiculous "sports" as events. But here in Europe, for real supporters, it is a bit more than that.

Something you would never understand though seeing that the only sport you like is trolling online forums.

I didn't answer you, the Admin. did.
I only re enforced what you didn't seem to comprehend or didn't like as his answer.

I only re enforced

I don't think that's your job. I have asked a specific question to which I did not get a specific answer.

Your inability to comprehend European football and it's supporters and your need to constantly comment on something your clearly know nothing about is not my problem.

@ Admin, at the beginning of the new football season I am going to embark on a "doing the lot" journey. I try to complete the Ekstraklasa grounds in 3 months ( having watched a game at all Stadia ) and would like to share my experience here after each weekend (travel, things I have seen, impressions of the game etc. ) but I don't like to call a football game an "Event".

Would it be too much hassle to create a sports section?

Your reaction back then was the same as it is now. You start to be angry and the insults start.

You may want to point out where I have been insulting you.

The fact that I do not consider Baseball or American Football as a sport insults you?

Like I said, commenting on something you clearly know nothing about.

Why don't you leave talking sports to the men while you continue to believe that the Baseball World Champions are actually "World" Champions?

and would like to share my experience here after each weekend

Nobody cares, really.
Would you care how I spent my summer vacation after each fishing expedition I went on ?
Hardly.
I had the opportunity to watch Jamaica & Brazil play a soccor game one time.
Big deal, a bunch of guys running around kicking at a ball and each other.
I think one point was scored the whole game. How boring.
None of which has anything to do with the Polish people or Poland.

Jamaica & Brazil

True. It is the wrong forum to discuss that game.

Would you care how I spent my summer vacation after each fishing expedition I went on ?

You are missing the point. I am not going to write about how I spend my time in a lazy chair trolling online forums (as you spend your holidays), I am going to write about how i travelled to the games, what I have seen on the way, how much I paid for my train tickets etc. etc. etc.

All things that you would never experience, do or see.

None of which has anything to do with the Polish people or Poland.

Of course, your holidays in Kentucky or your football game Jamaica vs. Brazil have nothing to do with Poland. My experience of travelling to all Ekstraklasa stadia to watch a game there will however be related to Poland.

Sport events directly unrelated to Poland (like the European league etc.) can go to the Off-Topic category.

Polish soccer league can go to Life (but in one thread, for example: Polska Ekstraklasa - Poland Soccer League Season 2015/2016 - all posts related to soccer league in Poland must go to this single thread then).

If you count the UK as Europe that is.....

but we can see American Football at Wembley Stadium!!

The point was not about what sport is being played at Wembley but whether or not our resident troll would ever set foot into Europe to watch a live game.

Not that I would consider American "Football" to be a sport anyway........

Why would I when I can watch it on t.v. in the comfort of my man cave.
Cold, ice cold beer, no rowdyism, snacks of my choice, steps away from the head with no line to wait in so I miss any of the game, instant replays, close up shots, so why would I even consider going to dirty Wembley to pay for a high priced ticket and expensive beer with loud mouth out of control drunks.

Kind of a no brainer iddinit ?
Hey Jolly, did ya see where the U.S.A women beat Germany in the World Cup to advance to the finals !

Not that I would consider American "Football" to be a sport anyway........

Who cares what you consider.
You do consider soccar (European football) a sport and it looks like the U.S.A. women will be the
World Champs by next week at this time.
So what do ya think of that feat Jolly ?
You must have SOMETHING nice to say about it.
Tell me, do you think it was right for the German coach to have put the girl with the bleeding head injury
back into the game after she got laid out ?

Why would I when I can watch it on t.v. in the comfort of my man cave.

And that is why I have said -

All things that you would never experience, do or see.

You see, you do not know what is like to experience true emotions of a game in the stadium. And there is nothing wrong with watching games on TV. A lot of people do and sometimes I do too. But i prefer the stadium atmosphere, emotions, rivalry etc. Sometimes even the trip to the game itself would give you enough material to write a book. I once traveled from Lausanne to Milan by car, took a plane to Budapest and then the train to Ukraine to watch Karpaty Lviv - Tavria Simferopol. All the way I met amazing people, had great food in Italy and Hungary and on the train from Budapest I shared a compartment with another German who traveled to the very same game and by accident was booked into the same train compartment as I was. Or last February I traveled to Czech Republic to watch 4 games in 5 days in 3 different cities. Sat in the Slovacko stadium at - 5 degrees, watching a horrible game and sharing endless amounts of flasks to keep warm with other people who were silly enough to head out to the game too. Of course, the flasks only kept us pretend warm.

You on the other hand can talk about how you walked from your sofa to the fridge to get a beer and went back to your sofa. But that is ok. Each to their own.

Wembley to pay for a high priced ticket

Overpriced tickets, to a certain extend I agree. It depends on which game you are going to watch. 4 years ago I paid 60 Euro for Barcelona - Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. You couldn't even see the ball from the guest sector. But again, being amongst friends and the atmosphere (in the guest sector at least. The Barcelona fans are terrible) made up for it. For the Europa League final in Warsaw this year I paid 90 Euro. Overpriced? Yes. But then I went to see Widzew Lodz play Wigry Suwalki and only paid 15 zlotych. In fact, when I picked up the ticket from the Widzew office I had to force my money onto the guy because he just gave me the ticket and when asked what about the payment he responded with "Well, if you have the money now ok, if not it is ok too". Of course that would explain why Widzew find themselves without a license for Liga 2 next season due to financial difficulties.

with loud mouth out of control drunks.

Far from reality. If I remember correctly, and perhaps someone of the British members here can confirm / correct me, there is no alcohol in British stadia and drunk people are usually not allowed to enter the stadium. Same with any UEFA CL or EL game where alcohol is strictly prohibited.

Hey Jolly, did ya see where the U.S.A women beat Germany in the World Cup to advance to the finals !

I am trying to understand if you are asking me a question or if you are making a statement.

You must have SOMETHING nice to say about it.

Yes I do. Well done to the American team. They deserve to go through the final.

the German coach to have put the girl with the bleeding head injury
back into the game

I am not a doctor and therefore it is difficult for me to asses whether it was right or wrong. It is my understanding that it was a decision made by Alexandra Popp (the player), the manager and the team doctors. And knowing Alexandra Popp and her determination, she probably wouldn't have been too happy about being substituted because her head was bleeding a little.

I know, it is probably difficult for you to understand. After all, the heroes of your game play all padded up and with a helmet. And god forbid they get tackled too hard, then of course they have to be substituted.

Determination and enthusiasm that you would probably never understand while watching games from the comfort of your sofa sipping a cold beer.

Thank you for giving us your life history to help me understand such nonsense.
Shall I post how I just traveled well over 4000 miles to go fishing for two days.
The smell of the open sea and the battles I had reeling in some whoppers and the
unbearable spring break traffic on the express ways, all the great restaurants that we enjoyed,
the college kids on the Florida beaches raising hell just like I did at their age, the people I met along
the way, the places I stayed at.......naw, nobody really cares to look at anothers vacation or trip
pictures except the person that took them. Most boring to others.
Life is good memories and if soccor is your cup of tea, do enjoy but it ain't mine.
OP JollyRomek  6 | 457

but it ain't mine.

That's ok and not everybody has to enjoy football. But the original question was whether there is a possibility to have a sports section here. As you may remember, there have been questions from others about Stadia in Poland, how to get there, where to have a beer before or after the game, how to buy tickets etc. etc. Questions that could have already been answered in that sports section.

One thing that is certain is that the original question of this thread was not whether our resident troll likes football.

Shall I post how I just traveled well over 4000 miles to go fishing for two days.

You can but please do that in a separate thread, ideally somehow related to Poland, or off topic. Nobody stops you from doing it and maybe you will find likeminded people with who you can exchange your experiences.
johnny reb  47 | 7555
2 Jul 2015 /  #25
SO you are saying that fishing is not a sport ?
Why doesn't it fall under

?
Are you are aware that people fish in Poland too.
You are so silly sometimes Jolly.

SO you are saying that fishing is not a sport ?

I have not said that. I have said that you can write about your fishing trips in a different thread. A different thread of that sports category, if there was one.

But seeing that none of your fishing trip stories would ever relate to Poland, since you have never been here and most likely will never be here, it most likely will end up in the off topic category. Like almost all your other posts do.

Are you are aware that people fish in Poland too.

Yes, i am and in fact I have had the great joy to go fishing with some Poles last year. Although I was there to be social and have a drink and bbq while they were doing their fishing.

You are so silly sometimes Jolly.

Yep
johnny reb  47 | 7555
2 Jul 2015 /  #27
Why would it have to be in a different thread ?
The thread is, "Is there any chance of a sports category".
Since you have not said that fishing was a sport why would you discriminate unless you want to
have a personal thread about your personal experiences in a particular personal sport in which the
thread should read; "Jollies personal category of personal experiences in soccor, no fishing allowed."

But seeing that none of your fishing trip stories would ever relate to Poland

You don't know that so why would you say that ?

while they were doing their fishing.

So you don't know anything about fishing so it shouldn't be talked about in your thread of personal sports.
I get it now, you want a personal thread to share your joys kinda like Wroclaw Boy does posing in his underwear in his personal body sculpturing thread.

So I need to start my own personal fishing thread to bore everyone with.
Now we are on the same page.
OP JollyRomek  6 | 457

Now we are on the same page.

You and I will never be on the same page, johnny. Why? Because even in this thread, the thread in which i ENQUIRED about a sports category, you go on about fishing saying that you should be able to post about it in this thread seeing that it is sports related.

Either you are not clever enough to understand that this thread only serves as a thread to ask about the possibility of a sports category, not to post your experiences in it (no matter which sport) ......... or you just need to fulfill your hunger and desire to troll.

The thread is, "Is there any chance of a sports category".
