King Sobieski, your beaches along the Great Ocean Road and at Wilsons Promitory are very very beautiful but ........ even though I visited those beaches during the hottest time of the year, I still couldn't swim - the water is simply freezing! But beautiful, nonetheless!

Hi, I think it will be easier find Australian people in Poland than polish people in Australia:)) You've written about your trip to Poland if you need any help concerning places with you should see, hotels, transport I can try help you.
That would be brilliant Marcin!! I am starting at a position of extreme ignorance though -I really just want to travel there and see as much as is humanly possible. The two countries I really wish to see are Poland and Russia - both because they are so vastly different to Australia.
The two main cities I wish to visit are Krakow and Warsaw. I understand that the warmer temperatures last from around May to July/August - is that true? And if so, are both Krakow and Warsaw still nice during those periods? Also, from some of the stuff I have read, it would seem that although Krakow is the cultural capital there are other places Zakopane which are growing in popularity - would you suggest that it is worth a visit there?!
Also - can you tell me any good places to eat in either Warsaw or Krakow? I find food is so crucial to your experience of a country.... !
Also - for those of you in Australia - I don't suppose you watched the Chaser's War on Everything on the ABC last night?! The Polish Club in Ashfield made an appearance .... although if you watched this particular segment, you may not have found it very funny...
I do worry about those guys sometimes - I live near Kings Cross in Sydney - for those of you who don't know it, it is the red light district of Sydney - and last night they were doing some filming up there. Two of the guys were dressed as bouncers harassing people as they walked down the strip! I walked past them and hope to god I don't make it on the show - I was in my gym gear!
Glad to hear you found that bit funny - sometimes you never can tell how things like that will go down. But the mufti thing was brilliant!
Honestly 'away guy' - what makes you think that your irrational and illiterate ('nad' is not a word) ranting would deter people from visiting Poland? Are you even Polish...?!
If you're Polish - having your own view about your own country is legitimate - but if not... well, you probably don't have much of a right at all.
your irrational and illiterate ('nad' is not a word) ranting
Listen here aussie i made a typing mistake because i type quick and im busy with many things at one time. We dont need to 100% accurate im sure you can read what im typing, im blady english teacher. This is a chat forum and i dont get paid by anyone for correct english , so go fly ur kite.
Of course it is a chat forum away guy - which would indicate that people are encouraged to be friendly - so telling people not to come to a country and to go 'fly ur kite' - doesn't really fit in with that concept.
Perhaps you should just jump on another thread - one that clearly does not have Australians - if it bothers you that much.
Hey Zengirl, I know there is a Polish restaurant in Glebe called Na Zdrowie. I've never been. I'm from Canberra and was really keen to check it out but apparently it's only open for dinner..
i breifly visited the Polish club in Ashfield the other day, they were closed and getting ready for a private function.. so can't comment on that either!
Hi Miss_S - I read a good review of that restaurant in Glebe. It looks pretty good and the food seems ideal for winter. Where is the Polish club in Bankstown? The last time I tried to contact the club in Ashfield they had a private function on then too... Seems like a pretty busy place then!
Nice to see the Chaser paid another visit to the Polish club last week - in Melbourne though! I think they need to pick another club now.... don't you think?!
if u like polish food, may i suggest a little trip to the polish place. it is in the mountains between brisbane and gold coast. i am very very very critical of food and have a high standard. this restaurant surpassed my expectations for quality, both in food and service. well worth the 1500km trip. and that fact speaks for itself!!!!!!
There is rather big Polish community in Sydney. I am a member of Polsih community, have a lot of Polish friends (mostly students but not only). First of all I am a great source of information about Poland (I've lived there 34 years, and moved to Australia less than 2 years ago). I am happy to share this knowledge. So feel free to ask.
Rockdale and vicinity and Ashfield to my knowledge as well as schools for international students (Kent Institute, Sydney for instance where I attended for some time)
