But if they wanted to spend their money the same way in the US, it would cost them $10.000.

I don't think so. Less and less Americans or Polish Americans go to Poland now (or Europe in general) -- it doesn't pay since the dollar is week. They prefer to go to Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbeans ; I'm not surprised.

Ya, maybe so. But some things are still cheaper in Poland than in US. The rich people don't care how much things cost, they just want to travel and spend their money.

I like Hawaii but it is more expensive there than any other state. Florida's OK. In Mexico I find things really cheap too, but I'd rather go to Poland. At least the bread and pierogis are better.

I'm sure pierogies are better in Poland (but that's another story:). However, there are maybe 10% of "rich people" so I don't think the companies focus on them - I think they focus on "average Americans/Europeans" since they would make more money from them..

read this story...even though it is about the increase in plastic surgery patients in Poland it talks of the ever increasing size of the middle class and increase in salaries in Poland over the years. Within 10 years I'd say that Polish salaries will be equlivilent to western standards

I read it. It is sad. Poland becoming more Western.
What will happen to those naturally good looking Polish women? Will they look Western?
I have seen women with breasts augmentation. When they walk, their breasts do not bounce up and down, shake, etc. When you touch augmented breasts, they feel like rubber balls.

There are a lot of rather simple generalisations here. Answers are rarely simple. Most of the Poles I know are scraping along on 5 to 19 zl per hour

I know people who earn 1000zl (take home) and are pretty happy....seems that income is highly taxed in poland.

well the average wage is about 5 zl an hour i think thats the minimum That works out at 1 pound. Im getting paid 30zl an hour so about 5 pound an hour. The average working day is 8 hours so about 200 zl a week for most people. Im fortunate enough just to have a job because im English and my pay will be high for the average Polish wage

so tell me this how well could someone live on 2500 zl a month?

well im living in a town called Torun . Its not a very big city and I rent a flat very close to the centre, its about a five minute walk. I pay 500zl a month then there is something called cnarz ( i think i splet wrong) i think its simalar to council tax but everyone must pay. So thats 800zl so far. Bills maybe 100 zl a month. Food depending on your tastes:) about 150 a week . so that 1100 . I think add another 300 zl on to that just in my calculations are wrong. Thats a total of 1400 zl a month. So for 2,500 zl a month you should be more that ok :)

You need to also think about how you will travel around whilst living in Poland. Do you intend to buy a car? Im from England and I was planning to go and collect my car and drive it back here but something tells me that your American so that option might not be open to you. Something I was taught in school about cars and deep water not really going together very well, if only I could remember what it was.......

sorry didnt read all of it ,yeah thats a good reason to go to poland

Thats the golden question?,, is it paid as part of your taxes or do you pay separately, do you need private cover and what is the cost?
burk805  - | 5

People are saying that public cover is inadequate, you may need private cover!

If you don't have private cover in Poland and are very sick, its better to just wait outside a funeral parlour and be done with it, you will not get good medical treatment if you are very sick without private cover.
