I know that the Catholic University of Lublin has a summer program for teaching Polish to foreigners. Has anyone had experience with that program - is it good? I am interested in really learning the language, not just coming to party. I already spent 6 weeks in Krakow at the Jagiellonian University's program but my impression of that program was not good - the teachers were ok but the dorm living situation was intolerable. Too much noise made it impossible to study or even get enough sleep. Someone told me that Lublin was a better situation.
Learning Polish in Lublin

Last year, I spent a fortnight at K.U.L. I compiled a summary: greenvault.tvn.hu/lublin/
(The links might not work, I haven't checked them ever since.)
I didn't pay attention, I'm quite symbiotic in a sense, but I think the uni dorm would be just the same in Lublin for you - shared rooms, full of noisy youngsters. Just as esek said. :) But you can choose the uni's hotel (for a small additional cost), which is much nicer and is located at the uni's site.

KUL doing this brilliantly they even have Celtic curses ( for lost souls ;) ) so they are bloody marvelous professionals :) :) :) innit
I have spent a number of summers at the KUL Language school. Top notch instruction, wonderful multinational community at the school. A good proportion of the students are either working professionals or grad students, another adults or seniors looking into ancestry and learning language/spiffing up language and engaging in culture/roots, and the rest undergraduate students (who were by and large quite respectful). The dorms are lovely, and the food is great. They arrange the rooms in the dorm (a short busride from campus, and a nice way to use language, shop elsewhere, see a neighborhood, etc.) to accommodate families, and they tend to put the "older folks" at a distance from the college students. And yes, for a modest fee one could stay at nearby Orbis or sometimes in a dormitory adjacent to the school. Lublin is one of favorite cities in Poland. I love it there!!! The faculties are all degreed----a number with graduate degrees. A lot of fun, and an effective immersion school, with some travel excursions, if interested. Not too far from Warsaw or Krakow...or points Eastern for those with an interest...
