It makes me wonder why anyone over here would move to Poland?

You have yet not considered that there are many other reasons than money to move to another country: love, family, friends, experience a new atmosphere, learning, adventure, travel, etc.

I am glad you make good and feel comfortable in England.

You're not going to get anything but a grimy inner city location for that in the UK.

You can easily get a decent place for that amount.

I imagine that your "friend" in Wroclaw wouldn't be able to do the same ;)

Rent + bills - ~2000zl
Food - 800zl
(public) Transport - 200zl

This is 3000zl so 2500zl is still in your pocket.

You can save 30k pln per year... foreign holiday cost varies... say from 2000zl to 5000zl... so how many foreign holidays you can have when there is 30k pln in your bank account?

This is a bit extreme calculation though... everyone spend some money on clothes, for fun etc... but your calculation also don't include such expanses.

Which sink estate would that be in?

Rubbish, you don't know what you're talking about.

My last address in London was 10 minutes from Waterloo by train... and not on a "sink estate" either - but you have to know where to look. Inner city, yes, I'll give you that. But I don't do "country bumpkin villages" anyway, and never will.

I no longer live in London, but nice (but small) houses in my area cost £400-£450 a month. Ex-council houses, rather surprisingly, may cost more - but that's because they tend to be much larger.

True, which is why I did mention disposable income ;)

Actually I have, but that wasn't my point. What you say is true, though.

See? I also live in a large Northern city, in a nice area too.

Sheffield

Great place......

Ok in the northen part of england it is a lot cheaper than the south, thats genrally because people think up north is a crap hole...

Ok i lived in Cardiff for many years and the cheapist place i lived in was a 2bed student style Ikea ridden flat for £550 and it was a 20/30walk to town... i moved to the centre of Cardiff and paid £600 for a 1 bed flat which was about 30m but was really nice so:

600 Rent
120 Council Tax
60 Gas + Elec

So so great anymore.. in PL i live in the middle of town and pay 700zl plus 100zl Gas/elec/water and have 2 bed flat which is 60m

Hummmmmm which one is better value for money...

Whereas the South is full of all these "lovely" and desirable places like Aldershot, Gillingham, Portsmouth, east London, Croydon, Luton, Romford... haha :D
