dannyboy 18 | 248 15 Feb 2007 / #31The average wage among polish immigrants in Ireland is 1500zl per week or 6000zl per month. For polish people in the construction industry, the minimum wage is 500zl per day.
OP davidpeake 14 | 451 15 Feb 2007 / #32Thats why they have moved away from Poland dannyboy, they can earn in a week what they would normally only get in a month in Poland.
dannyboy 18 | 248 15 Feb 2007 / #33Thats true.My partner who is Polish is self employed and makes about 1.5 times what I make per month, but she couldn't even get a job in a pizza shop in Poland. She has said she is never going back (well unless we move there for a short while after we get married)

billy 17 Nov 2007 / #44Well I'm an expat teacher and I'm clearing 2800 zl netto, Zus paid for by company. And I'm working 25hrs per week. So its not all doom and gloom for English teachers. The Poles are obviously gagging at the bit to learn English so it benefits all and sundry.
PL KILLER 17 Nov 2007 / #47I m waiter and I know how much I earn ... 4000 - 5000 PLN (tips included) officialy 1500 PLN

Macduff 9 | 69 18 Nov 2007 / #49Why in Poland if the average wage is so Low how come land and building prices are so high in comparison?
Wroclaw 44 | 5,379 18 Nov 2007 / #50Also, how can anyone afford the Audi R8, which is advertised on some billboards. Not everyone here is poor. In fact, there are a lot of wealthy people in Poland. And a lot of these people realize that they wouldn't gain much by going abroad. If they didn't have money, they wouldn't be making PL KILLER a wealthy man.Ten or so covers with a 10zl tip each [a day] would bring a waiters wage up. It's not impossible.
rex - | 37 18 Nov 2007 / #5110zl tip eachnobdy give that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wake up Poles dont tip !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wroclaw 44 | 5,379 18 Nov 2007 / #52nobdy give that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!In a good restaurant that would be 10% for one table.Besides, I only gave an example. It could be twenty covers at 5zl.
rex - | 37 18 Nov 2007 / #53that would be 10% for one tabledo you think that would be going to the waiter pocket alone !!!!!! dont think thatgood restourant here dont put 10 % only fancy places do aso a waiter dont make 5000 month maybe one in a million so is not the rule here
Wroclaw 44 | 5,379 18 Nov 2007 / #54so a waiter dont make 5000 month maybe one in a million so is not the rule hereI know. I was just showing that it could be done. If it were that easy, I'd be doing it.
rex - | 37 18 Nov 2007 / #55I would be doing tootoo bad is not that easywish the guy would come back and tell me where is he working and if they need more staff .
JWB 1 | 12 19 Nov 2007 / #56I had a call today from a company in Poland after they saw my CV and they asked how much I'd be prepared to work for. I told them 8000 a month (gross) which is quite a pay cut for me. Even so, I guess I won't be hearing from them again although I have discovered the company is in fact American.
randompal 7 | 306 19 Nov 2007 / #57wake up Poles dont tip !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!not true. Poles tip, but not as religiously as, say, Americans...even in lower budget resteraunts and pubs it is considered good class to leave a little if a waiter comes to your table a few times and the service is good..

Dice 15 | 452 16 Jan 2008 / #59you can't rely on official statistics when it comes to things like the income. The true income is always higher. I just looked up the median income in Michigan - it says $48000/year per household.Let me tell you something - i don't know anybody who makes this little here. nobody. I can't imagine anybody surviving on 48K per family. But these statistics include people on welfare with free housing and food stamps, soldiers, retirees, single people who live along, and - most importantly people who don't want to pay any taxes, who in fact hide their true income. Between me and my wife we make almost 3x that and trust me- we are not wealthy by any means! So if they say 2700 count it as at least double; plus you have cheaper cost of living etc.
